I didn't know that! Was he just as pompous an arrogant as he is now? (lol) No, I really think Arsene is a great coach, but I just never knew he coached at Grampus 8. How did he do as their coach?

Wenger took what was one of the worst teams in the J-League to a runner's up finish and won the Emperor's Cup.
He was only at Nagoya in 1995 and 1996 but he gets mentioned if there's an opening for the Japanese NT position.

I love that cartoon of him after Inamoto was released by Arsenal. Inamoto asks Wenger why they had cut him right after he scored two goals against Belgium and Wenger responds "I'm sorry Juinichi, I did not see the incident."

why did Wenger release Inamoto after his great showing at the cup? I suppose that Junichi was sick of sitting on the bench?

I don't remember the exact sequence of events but Arsenal was going to drop him anyway because of their depth at midfield. It was just a matter of bad timing since it was announced right after he'd scored against Belgium and Russia but it was going to happen sooner or later.

(My memory obviously isn't to be trusted since I wrote in the previous post that he'd scored against Belgium)
