I get the frustration, but I don't see how you cobble a coherent attack out of this squad. Have to defend and counter.
I kind of disagree. Willian should be better but seems out to pasture. But we've never seen anything to indicate the kids are up to it, apart from Saka, maybe ABN & Martinelli Of course a huge issue is players like Willock are only 21 and need proper development - but to actually depend on him in midfield seems insane
Scrolling through our squad it is amazing how poor it is really We have some decent players, and some good prospects, but we are still really struggling to field EPL quality in each position Like we have only one elite forward, and one elite midfielder.
No one is saying Nelson or Willock is good enough to start for Liverpool or Man City right now. The question is whether or not they are good enough to get a chance for a mid-table PL club that just had its ass handed to it by Aston Villa at home. Arsenal aren't signing 8 new players in January.
Willock at least moves off the ball, right now I’ll take that in the place of players standing around and waiting for the ball to be played to their feet.
How many clubs have multiple players 21 and under who can play in Europe? Two is above average. Nelson and Willock are useful squad players: that has value too.
Me too!, At least give Joe a chance... a run of some games in our EPL XI... like he did for Saka last year.
I for one do not really like slow patient buildup play. I think high speed attacks are basically the most thrilling thing in football.
This is a really good piece Laca and Willian appear to be going through the exact same decline that happened to Ozil before them. At some point this is structural. The loss of Ozil/Ramsey (and Alexis) is devastating to Arsenal's attack - but also, those players themselves suffered huge drop in output because of the disfunction under Emery So there is a huge systemic issue here. https://t.co/060B7nJXRH This week's column is about Alex Lacazette and Willian, in poor form no doubt, but when all of your attackers are simultaneously out of form, doesn't it point to a wider issue independent of individuals?— Tim Stillman (@Stillmanator) November 12, 2020
Of course it shows as dependency on individuals, but we have to accept it, as a team/squad, we are not good enough.
my original thought was the grudge was from the paycut. i forgot all about his comment on the uighur muslims.
It's almost certainly the paycut negotiations fronted by Arteta After Arsenal leaked that Ozil was not agreeing to the deal, Ozil's agent raced on to Honigstein's podcast and cast both the club and Arteta in a really bad light. ironically, everything Sogut said turned out to be accurate.
you think it's more that than the uighur muslims? i was also trying to figure out if it was the kroenke or sanllehi. given that sanllehi is gone and ozil is still out in the cold, that should rule him out, yeah?
Especially given his run of starts before lockdown, he was clearly good enough to at least make the squad
Leaking Ozil’s refusal to take the pay cut, when we still don’t know the names of the other two players to refuse the cut, was almost certainly from above Arteta’s pay grade, i.e. at the direction of the Kroenkes. If the leak was above Arteta’s pay grade, it’s quite likely the decision to exclude Ozil from the roster was also above Ozil’s pay grade.
Aston Villa have lost three of their last four Premier League games and conceded nine goals. They lost to Leeds, Southampton and Brighton.Arsenal manged two shots on target against them.— Orbinho (@Orbinho) November 21, 2020
