The really funny part of this is that this is the match that means the least in the grand scheme of things. Cole is out, but I'm sure Clichy can handle things for the Arse. Catfish is in charge of predictions, so I'll leave that up to him, but I've got a sneaking suspicion that if the Gunners pop one in the first 15 minutes, then it's "Katie bar the door" and the rout will be on. Plus, I've got a bet with Father Ted over in the manUre forum, and I don't want to have to use a manUre avatar for a week, along with having to post a thread a day in the manUre forum along the lines of "(manUre player A) is better than (Arsenal player B)" of no less than 30 words. In the (slightly altered) words of Homer Simpson: "That would be the suckiest thing that ever did suck" Now, for a quick comparison of the respective clubs: Lehman vs. Whichever choad they throw between the pipes Lehmann is better than all their idiots. He is better than the back up idiot, and he is better than the starting idiot even when the starting idiot remembers his medication. Campbell, Toure, Lauren, & Clichy vs. Poor Defenders du jour Substitute me in all my (un)athletic glory for Clichy....and Arsenal is still light-years ahead Arsenal Midfield vs. an old Irish guy, a Portugese punk, and a few other morons Viera is who Keane likes to think he used to be. But he wasn't. Ever. Is there anyone in the world who wouldn't stand up and cheer if, at the opening whistle, Ljungberg charged across the midfield stripe and kicked Ronaldo square in the nads, hard? I didn't think so. Edu and Bob are certainly better than the other two guys whom I don't care to even mention at this time. It could be anyone, but SuperBob and Edu still rule. Bergkamp vs. Saha or OGS Saha has already gotten his call up for France, so he's completely not motivated any more, and Bergkamp is who OGS would like to be when he grows up, if that ever happens. The Greatest Footballer on the Planet vs. "Secretariat" What is SAF's obsession with equines? He thinks he owns one, he plays one at striker. He needs psychiatric care, and pronto. Also, I think really good players sometimes score from distances greater than 4 feet, but that's just me. "Le Boss" vs. Darth Maul I would suggest that SAF start drinking tomorrow morning so he can be well lubed enough to deal with the can of "whoop-ass" Wenger is about to open up. And just remember kids, it's all good fun until someone loses an eye. Or their dignity. Whatever.
In this titanic match, I pick Arsenal to beat Man Utd. Arsenal is currently in top form and has demolished every opponent in its past few games. The team has the physical and mental edge as Man Utd continues to search for its true form. Arsenal is favored (2.05) at www.sportsbetting.com. Who do you guys think will prevail in this highly-anticipated match?
My local newspaper reported that they are favouring that MU would open a can of whoop arse on Arsenal since they won against hotspur 3-0. the pigs are flying it seems...
coach, let me just say that this is one of the funniest things ive read on here in a while!!!!!! one more thing, its only fun until someone loses an eye, then its hilarious!!
lol@Secretariat~~ nice coach... i think saha is injured for this one.. im hoping there isn't a euro hangover (i think i say that after every freakin european game... anyways.. ) of course we'll be up for this one.. I truly hope i didn't just see fatigue in the chelsea match cuz manyoo are well and fresh.. need to step it up sunday and end manyoo's hopes (if that still exists) phishy~
For what it's worth, soccernet.com is saying that Saha is fit to play. Because of who we're playing I don't think there will be the typical CL hangover. However, I still think it will be the usual Arsenal versus ManYoo slugfest. Hopefully Coach is right and I'm wrong.
Talksport poses this interesting question during today's Football First program (at 7:00pm in London - 2:00pm EST, 1:00 Central): Alan and Ray look ahead to another massive weekend in the Premiership. Can Arsenal get up for their game against Man United after Wednesday’s pulsating Champions League match with Chelsea? Talksport link: http://www.talksport.net/default.aspx Did you ever think we'd see a time when a ManU league match might be considered an afterthought? Right now, they're comparing Arsenal today with England's greatest teams of the past 30 years.
Yikes! Looks like those 20 some odd fouls committed by Chelski left some marks on the boys! http://www.eurosport.com/home/pages/V3/L0/S22/E5801/sport_Lng0_Spo22_Evt5801_Sto566391.shtml Pires, Campbell, and Viera all with Saturday fitness tests.
I don't give a s**t who's better, or who wins, but I DO think someone who makes fun of a person with a condition like Tourette's Syndrome should take a serious look at why he hates himself so much and feels the need to pass that hate onto others.
So much for making sure no one loses their dignity. So is he an idiot for having a nervous disorder, or for slinging a ball at an opponent... oh wait... Funniest thing I've read all week. Thanks. Take your acrophobic player if you want, for one day he may know the joys of playing in a match on the continent as well. I hear Ole once scored a failry important goal as well over in that place where they speak that funny language... We'll have to make sure our guys stay the hell away from Sol's elbow, in that case.
Yeah I should say, I do find it a bit funny. Good thread title, I must admit (though It'll be even funnier when we win the treble next season ). Good luck all around, no hard feelings. Still, the TH joke was a bit low...
The crack about Timmy was made simply because so many people (like Nut Hammer up there) get so bent out of shape about it. For someone to be playing at the level he is with that affliction is amazing, quite frankly. And after all the "porn star" comments we had to listen to with Seaman in goal, I think we should be allowed a little latitude. (Seaman really did look like a porn star. There was no denying it, although we did try.) So, people, please look at the spirit in which the entire post is obviously written! To the ManU fans who "got it", no hard feelings back at ya', eh? PS - phishy, perhaps you should push a little of your "relaxation therapy" smokes Nut Hammer's way....
See?? Now that's funny!! Even though I completely disagree, I still see the humor in it. Now if we could get the rest of the world to lighten up...
Don't worry 'bout me, Coach, I'm chillin' like a tray of ice right now. That "relaxation therapy" works, it really does...
You and phishy should get along like birds of a feather, then, though phishy's always bitchin' about the "hard ass" laws in the States...
Everyone knows that Keane cries himself to sleep knowing that he is not Mssr Vieira. THE WHOLE WORLD accepts that Vieira is the best in his position in the world except ManUre. I just can't wait for Manchester to try the wings against Clichy. I'm not really worried at all about that. Close down the wings and Manchester are cooked. Like it has been mentioned before, it really is useful to have players who can score from more than 4 feet out. Brace for Ljungberg. 2-0.
A tight match. A victory by ManU is a must to maintain even the illusion of competing in the EPL, so they will play hard. Their defense--last week's shutout of Spurs notwitstanding--is very shaky, so I look for them to clutch, foul and grab a lot. Nevertheless, Arsenal's class shows through at the end. 2-1 to the New World Order. I'll take Henry and Ljundberg to score, with a goal by VanNistledive to make it interesting. RE: Howard crack. Don't see the humor. Really. On to the treble!
You must be an amazingly rich man. Apparently you know facts before they happen. whatever The only way I don't see us winning this game handily is if all three of Viera, Pires, and Campbell don't play. Even then I still think we at least draw. If they do play then we slice manure apart. 3 to nil.
Problem is, a lot of people won't get it unless excessive use of "winkies" and "big grins" is made. I've gotten lazy, so I don't use them anymore. Plus, let's face it, its a fvcking internet message forum.
