This is why a left footed LB changes up everything. MLS hits a ball you can't really curl as a right footer into the path of Jesus for the cross to Saka.
I love how this post led to so many replies, but the underlying theme was clearly, "this Paramount app is trash, no way in hell I'm rewinding right now"
Yes. But not just P+. Pretty much all streaming apps make this so much harder to do than my good ole DVR. So personal adjustments still in progress.
No, it was definitely Martin Tyler with a slight mix of baby. He was on there by himself sounding half dead 1867021794797891912 is not a valid tweet id 1867014372507402329 is not a valid tweet id 1866964677873348669 is not a valid tweet id 1866963522615226791 is not a valid tweet id None of these people are me
Yeah he’s even worse than Al Michaels. So many boomers just squatting on jobs because they can’t handle retirement
Vin Scully was the exception not the rule for old dudes staying sharp on the mic. Stop trying to copy a legend. I want to take this moment to say I hate the giga-table. Typically in the champions league with 2 matches left we know what needs to happen. The whole thing is a jumble, who do I root for in other matches to make Arsenal's path easier? All I know is 2 wins seals top 8 and seems doable with the remaining opponents. Win and a draw probably still gets it done?
This uncertainty has a knock-on effect on the upcoming transfer window - what type of matches are we offering, what income can we be assured of, etc.
We have Dinamo Zagreb at home in January so a lot can change between now and then, but they haven't been crash hot lately in their league and against the better teams in the CL (Bayern won 9-2 and Dortmund won 0-3) they have only beaten poorer teams and had a draw with Celtic at home. They are currently sitting in the last of the 24 qualifying spots of Zagreb will be desperate to beat us. The week after they have AC Milan at home. And then we have Girona away who pushed Liverpool but lost at home to them 0-1, but despite a weak draw they haven't really fired a shot in the competition. They can't progress but they play against AC Milan the week before us (lol) so we will see what their form is like. 2 wins is a sure fire top 8 and unfortunately with the match ups we won't know whats required til the last match day but right now theres a cluster of teams on 13 points including us, then you have Dortmund/Munich/Atleti Madrid and AC Milan sitting on 12 points. Dortmund have Bologna, Munich have Feyenoord, Atleti have Bayer Neverlosin' and AC a little silhouetto of Milan have Girona. Most of the current top 8 have easier match ups next match except Bayer who have Atleti, and Liverpool in 1st host Lille in 8th. However before last nights match the Arsenal site had an article about this and they reference Opta who ran simulations with the new format before the competition started. 16 points was enough in 98% of the simulations to get you a top 8 spot. 15 points was enough in 73% of simulations to get you 8th spot specifically. 14 points was enough in 28% of the simulations to get you 8th spot. But looking at the way this group stage has unfolded depending on goal difference I don't think 16 points is a surefire top 8. 17 points (i.e a win and a draw) will be enough for us to go through top 8.
Splitting my mega post into two smaller ones so its not one big wall of text. Regarding the current CL format, I like the idea of playing unique opponents but this isn't well done. It really should have been two groups of 18, teams play the 8 random games as is the case top 4 from each group straight into round of 16, the next 4 teams go through seeded, the next 4 go through unseeded, 6 teams eliminated. Yes its just the current format halved but its way easier to follow as a result and then after this first "group stage" the 8 teams automatically in the round of 16 are seeded and can't play each other while the winners of 5th-8th vs 9th-12th then become unseeded. When I was looking at the fixtures and the tables to see who could go in its an absolute ********ing mess to not only predict results but then the amount of results that can totally skew who is in the top 8, the middle 8 and the bottom 8. It doesn't take much for 1 or 2 results to through some serious result complications and thats before goal difference where a team like Bayern (+9 GD, equal with us/Dortmund/Atalanta) might blast a shit team out of the water and end up being as high as 3rd if all the teams above them lose.
I feel like with the 1 giant group format, it's easier to hide the fact that some teams got a much easier draw than others (on paper at least). If they split the CL into 2 tables, then everyone would clearly see which teams don't have to play others and the complaining about fairness would be never ending.
@NorthBank - next match against Everton kicks off just over 24 hours from now. Want to start the new thread?
Wish granted. Long live Jambi... https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/arsenal-vs-everton-epl-14-dec-2024.2133557/
