Wish we were playing the team/squad you listed above.

    Instead.........Malacia starts, against Saka

That's better than throwing a perpetually unfit Shaw isn't it?...

I mean... Are we really expecting to win this one?

I don't get why either have to be an option?

Maz, de Ligt & Slab are the back three.

Why not play Dalot on the left and Amad on the right? Rather than Malacia and Dalot?

Will just have to trust

Rotation? It's clearly a priority for him currently. Can't speak to why exactly, but it's a clear focus he has to utilize the full squad as it stands.

I guess it gives everyone a few legitimate chances to prove themselves and earn their spot, rather than some who have just played favourites and run them into the ground

He mentioned the team needing to be more fit and that he has to manage minutes so they don't break down - expect that is why Amad is not starting etc

Good to see Yoro on the bench and interesting that Kukonki has been selected for the bench again given he is only 16 (I think)

Teams in their conventional shape according to the media below. Not so sure we will line up like this though ...

Bigger surprise for me is playing Bruno and Ugarte in midfield away against a team like Arsenal who play narrow and will boss the centre. Especially when we went Cas / Mainoo and Mainoo / Ugarte etc. in recent games at home. That is kinda weird.

With Mount listed as one of the front three then maybe the shape will be more him playing deeper alongside Bruno with Ugarte tasked with tracking and stopping Odegaard. Still seems light in the middle to me though for this class of oppo away.

In theory the wing-back (Malacia) is more focussed on when their FB gets forward (Timber). Their RWF (Saka) is more the job of our LCB which looks to be Maguire - which is probably equally scary or maybe even more so

Not really the starting lineup I would want or expect for this game tbh.

    Garnacho - Hojlund - Mount
    Malacia - Fernandez - Ugarte - Dalot
Maguire - De Ligt - Mazraoui
    Onana

    Martineli - Havertz - Saka
    Rice Odegaard
    Partey
    Zinchenko - Kiwior - Saliba - Timber
    Raya

Aside from Onana, Maz, De Ligt and Bruno, has anyone else started back to back games since the new boss started?

I was initially thinking this is probably his idea of a more conservative line up. Two hard working no 10's. Traditional wingback on the right.

And were probably sitting deep, ig Maguire is starting.

Mount was good last time. Let's see if he can. Do it. This is probably his best role. 1 of two or three 10's

My take is this will actually be more of a 442 out of possession with Maz pushing out to RB and Malacia dropping deeper. Then Mount sliding over to more of a LCM when out of possession.

One thing for sure, if we play a high-line that includes Maguire (and to an extent De Ligt and Maz who ain't the quickest either, particularly to cover him) then we will get killed.

So maybe we do play deeper and with more of a back four. Then trust the vertical mobility of Bruno and Mount to join Garna and Hojlund in causing them some trouble.

    Edit: Sky showing us as

De Ligt - Maguire - Maz
    Dalot - Ugarte - Bruno - Malacia
    Mount - Hojlund - Garna

Which would make more sense to try and have mobility against Saka and Maguire being a lump in the middle rather than lacking pace to get to the wide players.

Maz at LCB, and slab through the middle. Probably a smart move.

Onana kicking off to a poor start - two bad giveaways that we fortunately got away with.

Worst part about playing Arsenal away is their supporters only know one song...

Mount seems to be in the Man City English Wingers category of white players that do nothing but the English press loves to Rave about.

    Credit to Garnacho thus far.

While it's not really happening for him, he is working hard off the ball and staying disciplined.

    HT 0-0.

Shape, ball retention and possession better and have limited their chances however no real threats or shots on target from us either.

Thought the ref was doing ok, then he gives us (Malacia and Ugarte) a couple of pedantic nothing yellows at the end.

Game may come down to who uses the bench better.

    Amad on for Malacia.

    Assume Dalot goes out left

    1-0

We didn't seem to have any good defensive players at the near post to stop the header from a corner - Hojlund just got shoved out of the way.
