The one thing willock is good at is defending from the front to close out a game

I awoke this morning and realised that we had won, we won. Haven't thought that for a while.

Xhaka is good in a 4231 as he drops into lb space and can. Play out that side

It worked when ozil played ten and now esr

    A. Huzzah! I accidentally tuned in with about 15 mins left, having earlier resigned myself to a prospective loss. Lo and behold I found the team nursing a 3 goal lead, so I opted not to join the conversation for fear of jinxing the good fortune.

Watched the replay later. Where has that effort been these last few weeks? Anyway, bravo Gunners!

    B. A late Happy Christmas to those that celebrate the occasion!

Injured, not in the squad only on the bench - Saka, Martinelli and Smith-Rowe. Inspired Bellerin and allowed Tierney to play to his best Laca has his problems, but he can hold up play with his strenth and defenders can't ignore him. Chelsea were a bit rubbish too for most of the match.

He's decent, because in other setups he's below average

Xhaka is good if he is given time on the ball and can hit long passes with his left foot. He kind of sucks at everything else. But as long as you surround him with the right players and he doesn't have to do everything else, he isn't bad.

But the midfield doesn't have many other options. Elneny compliments Xhaka in that he does a little bit over everything but doesn't do anything well. I think Ceballos offers more on the ball than Xhaka but he is a defensive liability as he gets caught out of position often. Willock's fine in his role as a 5th CM who subs in the last 15 minutes and runs. When is Partey coming back?

IDK but when Partey went down I figured we wouldn’t see him until January. So I’m still sticking with that. ;)

He was pretty naive on their goal.

Amazing what can happen when u give freedom to creative players and let them run at defenders and into the box instead of forcing to send cross after cross!

Artetas Regid positional system has killed Pepe+ABAm+ceballos.

Some you are sticking up for XHaxa....please stop!

Partley n ceballos combo will create space for attackers.
Elneny can sit back disrupt attacks.

Rowe can come in as a sub.

Saka and martenelli saved artetas job!

I’ve never been a fan, but I thought Xhaka had the best game he’s had in a while, he seemed to respond to the energy of the youngsters and played with a little more energy himself. That said, as an alternative to a creative midfielder, I think Arsenal would benefit from bringing in another big athletic midfielder to pair with Partey, allowing Smith-Rowe, Ceballos, or Ozil, if Arteta brings him back in, to focus on offense. Someone like Bissouma from Brighton, who has already been rumored, or Soumare from Lille, who has been linked with Arsenal in the past. It would strengthen the spine of the team, while making Xhaka redundant.

I thought he was ok. Silly yellow early, that looked like it may end up being an issue, but wasn't. Otherwise very steady as a CB.

Agree, except I don't recall him being really tested too much. Chelsea's offense offered so little thankfully.

You're being diplomatic. He was poor. He also could've played Laca for a tap in and definitively killed the match, but his touch was poor.

    Mari was excellent for flamingo

if Gabriel is out then he’s auto and in a 3 he can play lcb

I don’t know if arteta would start two left footed cbs though in a 4 but why not?

Honest question: at what level do you believe Flamengo (and maybe more pertinently their opposition) to be?

Well they win as lm they could and did well vs Liverpool

sometimes it’s not about the level but the ability of the player
