I doubt Szez will be scared by that. Good number 2 for Cup games though but not exactly the guy I would have to keep our current #1 in good form.

 

We need a #1. There has to be something better than the shit we have been trotting out on the pitch for the last 6 years.

 

Szez is good enough. Of course I am talking to people to rate base on the one goal instead of the overall ability.

 

He is totally overrated. He is simply not good enough at this level. He is not even in the top 10 BPL keepers today. His only saving grace is that he is still young and should be able to progress. But at this stage I would be happy to have a Begovic or a Mignolet as the AFC keeper and Zczez at his understudy.

Sneezy is just fine. Yes, he should have done better on the goal today, but it's not as if he's been the reason we've dropped points this season.

I usually agree with you but here I sadly don't. I mean you said Mignolet. He is not a bad keeper Mignolet, but is he really an upgrade over Szczesny?

I think people are just being to harsh over him for some little mistakes he has made.

Mistakes by keepers usually end up as goals. It may seem harsh but it is the truth. Chez has made too many to overlook, and its not like Chez is Buffon, who has a resume full of winners medals where it is easy to look the other way when mistakes are made.

 

while Chez is overrated, he is number 7 in save percentages this season.

He needs to be challenged by someone, more than anything else.

 

We need a new #1 to keep him on the bench. Do you really blame Mannone for Chesney's brain farts?

 

Not fully but I do consider the fact that his only opposition for the #1 spot are the 3 other goalkeepers we have. 2 of them have in the past said they want to leave (Mannone recently), while the other 1 is good enough to be #3 in the team.

Fabianski and Mannone are good but when the fans know that they are trying to leave the club to start then what will that tell Chesney? He is basically a guaranteed #1 no matter what. A proper #2 would make him shit himself when he messes up and hopefully allow him to learn from it and apply what he learned straight away to avoid messing up.

 

I've been back and forth on his future. I'm not ready to give up completely on him, but he isn't ready. Maybe some day, but not now.

 

No, EPL don't get any easier than this. Nothing less than three points is remotely acceptable.

 

I would prefer one top class keeper to two Chesney level keepers. Let's face it, he is not much better than Mannone right now. Think of any top level keeper and try to remember the #2 that "kept him on his toes". Got any names?

 

Every keeper makes mistakes. Truthfully, there's really only 3-5 great keepers in the world. We could do worse than Szez, but damn he should made that save today.

 

Or the fact that we play Diaby for 60+ minutes, who is good at nothing in particular even when he's healthy.

Or a new #1 even. I've been behind him more than some other fans but the one he gave up today is the save he has to make.
