89th minute. Henry down left wing, and he gives Aliadiere a gift to open his Premiership account. Arsenal 5, West Brom 2.
Re: Re: 90th minute Thanks Ian. That's what I meant but I was drawing a blank. I had "training" room then "trainers" but neither felt right. This watching and typing (or listening and typing) is much harder than I thought - I don't know how you manage to do it so well.
Fulltime. Arsenal 5, West Bromwich Albion 2. ARS Cole 3 ARS Lauren 21 ARS Wiltord 24 WBA Dobie 51 ARS Wiltord 77 WBA Roberts 87 ARS Aliadiere 90
Well, everyone has a bad game from time to time, so I'm not too concerned with Keown's performance provided he plays like himself the next time out.
Re: Re: Re: 90th minute You should have seen the stretch where I was listening, typing and talking to my boss on the phone all at the same time.
You wonder if it's a matter of rest, playing a couple of days ago. We're going to need Cygan and Upson during the CL campaign.
Elsewhere, Sp*rs beat Charlton 1-0 to go to 7 points. Enjoy it while you can, boys. ManUre leading Mr. Mxpytlik, that Hungarian bunch, 4-0.
C'mon, do I have to be the homer here? It's got to be Wiltord, doesn't it? He is the heart and soul of the team and the greatest thing since sliced bread!
With 2 goals it has to be Wiltord. Lauren played well and scored a difficult goal. Cole scored, but I think it was his bad pass that led to the first brum goal.
Re: i felt it coming Aliadiere is 19. Toure is 21. Cole's 20 or 21. So much for all the stick about our youth policy, huh? If Upson and Jeffers ever get healthy and in the lineup they'll also lower our average age.
Re: Re: Re: i felt it coming Or Volz who might get a bit of PT this year, but definitely some next year and is 19 also.
OK, nobody collapse, but I thought Wiltord played pretty well last night. The second goal was a really good piece of control and finish, if he can do that all the time, I might even stop slagging him off. I thought that Silva played a good game in the middle of the park, in the three games he has played for us he has been running the midfield. Taking some of the pressure off Vieira's shoulders can't be a bad thing. Unfortunately for Martin Keown, he made another mistake which cost us a goal. After the West Ham game, I though he would play it nice and simple and try not to do anything wrong. He's trying to play football when we all know his best trait is his ability to put the ball (and the opposing striker more often than not) into row Z. He could easily have been sent off for a professional foul when he was the last man, but the striker was honest enough to stay on his feet and draw a save from Seaman. This is not the kind of play you want from your senior defender. If he's not careful, when Upson or Cygan get their chance he might just find himself watching from the bench.
michaec, I too wondered what the heck the defense was doing! Keown and Campbell started to try all these cute combinations at the middle of the park, which left Arsenal exposed at the back. Not only that but Seaman seemed to have his "common sense" disconnected several times. Gilberto played pretty well, only a few missed passes but some great vision and control. Viera seems to be playing a bit lightly. I've not seen him get pushed off the ball as much as I did against the Hammers and Baggies. Althought to be fair, I think some of those challenges are circumspect and Paddy doesn't get the calls. As for MOTM, I'm voting for Henry. While he didn't score, he created opportunities and made intelligent runs to create space for other players. It was the first game where I actually saw a replacement for Bergkamp! No, Henry is not there yet, but I believe he could fill Dennis' role in a season or two.
