The usual online text fun will commence about 2.30 Eastern time, or as soon as lineups are announced. Kickoff at 3.00.
Wow, pre-game commentary...That is priceless. Unfortunately, my computer is not set up at home so I won't be able to provide insight as I watch the match... Although I do know that you are in the very capable hands of Ian...
Well well well, what do you know...another Arsenal day game in the U.S. and I'm "working at home" again. What a coincidence! Ian, you're driving, as far as I'm concerned. I'm only gonna chime in if anything weird happens.
Arsenal lineup... David Seaman Oleg Luzhny, Martin Keown, Sol Campbell, Ashley Cole Sylvain Wiltord, Gilberto Silva, Patrick Vieira, Edu Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry Substitutes 13 Stuart Taylor 18 Pascal Cygan 28 Kolo Toure 9 Francis Jeffers 25 Nwankwo Kanu
Manchester City lineup... Peter Schmeichel 1 Sylvain Distin 5 Steve Howey 24 Sun Jihai 17 Ali Benarbia 8 Eyal Berkovic 14 Marc-Vivien Foe 23 Niclas Jensen 3 Nicolas Anelka 39 Darren Huckerby 7 Sean Wright-Phillips 29 Substitutes Carlo Nash 20 Richard Dunne 22 Kevin Horlock 6 Danny Tiatto 19 Shaun Goater 10
All indications before the game were than Kevin Keegan was going with one striker, but Huckerby and Wright-Phillips both can play up front with Anelka.
arsenal radio No offence but here's hoping I don't need PBP today and the Arsenal radio comes through. Truth be told this match looks like it would be much better on the TV. Kevin Keegan is worth the price of admission alone Is this the first time Anelka has been back to Highbury since leaving?
All righty then. I think it's interesting that Jeffers gets on the subs bench ahead of his "rival" Aliadiere. I'm not exactly going out on a limb here, but I think that Jeffers will play a part in this game, either coming in for a tired/injured Bergkamp or getting PT because it's a blowout.
Both teams observe a minute of silence for the victims of 9/11. Two kids in Arsenal kits shown holding up an American flag.
3rd min Henry burns Sylvain Distin and Marc Vivien-Foe and tries to chip Schmeichel, but his effort goes over.
4th- 5th minutes Henry strips Wright-Phillips in the Arsenal end. Campbell is forced to concede a corner. Seaman had to pop the cross over the top.
5th minute Man City wins a corner, Benarbia plays a short corner, gets it back, then chips toward goal where Seaman palms it off the crossbar. Cue World Cup references from the announcer (either Ian Darke or Alan Parry, I think).
