I fully expect our fox-in-the-box to annex a field day in this game, if he plays. I'm very interested on the price for a Jeffers hat-trick or perhaps 4 goals. The outcome of this game is difficult to assess but i'd plump for 6-1.

I don't want to dampen your optimism but you know wot football's like...Arsenal could be wiping the floor with Farnborough but the forwards are doing Jaques Merde, Farnborough's goalie's having a blinder, Arsenal hit the post & bar x times, the ball cleared of the line x times, last ditch tackles galore, defenders throwing their bodies everywhere - then on their one and only attack in the 88 min a defelected shot og's into Arsenal's lobster pot!...you know wot football's like ;)

6-1?!?!?!? You know that I share your enthusiasm for all things Arsenal, O Irish one, but that's a bit too optimistic, I think. Don't forget the magic of the Cup... I'm fully expecting a Gunner win, but "you know wot football's like..."

    Vive le AFC!

True. I fully expect FT to establish a 10 man barricade, and look for the counter attack, which I don't think will be effective given our world class speed versus former plumbers and ex-substitute teachers.

    3-0 to the Arsenal.

    Starters?

    From Wenger's mouth:

"I'll give competition to the players that need it, for example Parlour and Vieira will play. So will Cygan, van Bronckhorst, Pires, Jeffers and Kanu. Also, Kolo Toure or Sylvain Wiltord, but I have not decided which yet."

He also said Taylor will start.

So the team probably looks like this:
    Taylor
    Lauren
    Cygan
    Campbell
    Van Bronkhorst
    Toure/Wiltord
    Vieira
    Parlour
    Pires
    Kanu
    Jeffers

I'd have thought that Campbell won't play as Keown is suspended for Wednesday's game, so Campbell will probably be the one rested. I haven't heard that Taylor's finger is properly mended, so I expect Seaman to continue in goal. And I'd rather Edu plays on the left than Pires, just in case.

With luck, it will be a funny bench: Taylor, Bergkamp, Henry, Pires, Campbell.

Having just come back from the game, Jeffers should have had a hat-trick (and some!) with the chances that he missed. The game didn't really come alive until a "streaker" ran onto the field from the Farnborough end (Clock End) and Dennis Bergkamp and Silvan Wiltord as a "double substitution" although only the "former" offered anything substanstial. Despite the scoreline, assisted by the sending off, it was really a very disappointing performance taking into account the 101 places between the 2 teams. The chances missed far outweighed those scored, and if KANU and JEFFERS can't really perform against opposition from this level then I don't know when they will "really turn it on". KANU has had his moments during the season, but JEFFERS has never really set HIghbury alight, and personally speaking, I don't think he ever will. Unfortunately his "goals missed" will always outweigh his "goals scored". If TH14 was playing I am sure that we would have hit double figures!

Oh ye of little faith! 5-1 is close to that 6-1 that many thought would occur and should have! Jeffers did his job of being in the right place but he could have had several more. With a little more time he may start to convert more chances.

How about Lauren? That was a superb run from the right. We seemed to exploit a weakness on the left that netted a couple.

I got a new 36' Tele just in time for Superbowl. First show I watch on it was this game. Good way to break it in!

Wenger says Jeffers was at his best, but I doubt it. I mean, they were playing against a non-league team and basically that's a bit like another reserve team! He always seem to score goals during reserve matches, but never at Premier League matches.
