Alright chaps, back on the horse after two bad falls. Location: Emirates Stadium Date: Saturday, February 11, 2023 Time: 1500 GMT/10 AM ET/9 AM CT/weird kangaroo position Melbourne time TV: Peacock Premium ( makes me want to go all Nader Shah on them)
2am kick off in weird shitty kangaroo time here. Need to win. Don't worry about upcoming games with City. Gotta take this league game by game, opponent by opponent, or you get spanked like we did against Everton. 3-1 win, 2 to Saka and 1 to Nketiah.
5 AM here in the Sandwich Islands. I feel like we really need 3 points. edit: Is Peacock PREMIUM different than Peacock?
Anyone can download the Peacock app for free, and there is a certain amount of free content available. Peacock Premium is simply you paying the monthly fee for premium content, including Premier League soccer.
This will be a first encounter with Peter Bankes since April 2022 when we were beaten 1-0 by Southampton, which is one of only six Gunners games he has taken charge of. We have won four of those, with the two defeats coming at St Mary’s Stadium. His last appearance at Emirates Stadium was back in May 2021 when we beat West Bromwich Albion 3-1, and interestingly he hasn’t awarded a penalty or red card in his 11 Premier League appointments this term. Referee: Peter Bankes Assistant Referee 1: Eddie Smart Assistant Referee 2: Nick Greenhalgh Fourth Official: Simon Hooper VAR: Lee Mason Assistant VAR: Adrian Holmes
I'd be curious to know what the thinking is around player recovery and timing, because I'm not a doctor. But I would think that if a player has been injured for a long time and finally recovers, starts to regain fitness and is ready to be perform at his peak, has been practicing with the first team for a period of time and can finally make a contribution on the field, and it's only mid March or whenever it is, then I'd have to think he's an asset that can help us win a title. For me, I don't see the point of saying, nah, shut him down and save him for next year. What does that do for the team, or for his confidence as an elite athlete?
Yeah I totally see what you mean but the kid isn’t just not ready. He had a setback with a different injury and at this point I am not sure if he’s going to regain full fitness this season. I hope he does. But this reminds me of Gio Reyna’s situation for the past couple years.
I have but one thing to add... whenever Bankes is HR I think I'm seeing Jerry Seinfeld from 30 years ago.
Wasn't this a muscle injury to a different part of the body? Expected from such a long lay off. I think we see a lot of him when we get into the final stretch and we get busy with EPL/EL matches.
That’s the conclusion I’ve found myself reaching and I’m VERY sad about that. I feel like he has one more chance of recovery at Arsenal, and improve himself before he is shipped out.
Arteta is sticking with his long preferred XI today. Let’s see them repay his trust!!!! Ps. Waiting for one of the usual suspects to post the graphic of our lineup.
