Can't wait for the next Arsenal Fan TV....that's more exciting than the games these days....#FAMblood
Thanks Jake for stepping up. Here's today's presser, which I found to be entertaining/awkward: http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20170306/wenger-on-alexis-future-at-arsenal The awkward parts were based mostly on Per's comments. In one case he was perhaps a bit more honest than his boss. He said the players needed to be more up for a fight, more than we were at Munich last time, more than the first half at Anfield. Minutes later Wenger tried to contradict that, saying that we're always up for a fight. With all of Wenger's shortcomings, he's certainly a master at dealing with tough, relentless questioning from the press. Pep and Mou can't hold a candle to him on this front. I'm expecting a 2-2 or a 3-2, and it doesn't matter who'd be on top of that scoreline.
Nahhh....they're going to pound us. Even their second string will put three past us. First CL game I haven't rearranged my work schedule for so I could get to the pub. Sad commentary.
Lets do this Cech Bellerin-Kos-- Xhaka Ramsey Ox Lucas Alexis Iwobi Welbeck Giroud It'll be harder to get over run in midfield if they put everyone in the midfield. Defense doesn't do much anyway, why play 4 of them?
I dunno. I could see you eating those words. Either way, we're starting to be a big story line ahead of every match. A little like the way Leicester was in the weeks/months before Ranieri was sacked. Hmm. One thing I'm pretty sure of is that if we get beat badly tonight, the fans at the Grove won't likely be as polite towards the manager as the KP fans were towards their manager last month.
We are playing the full first team (except Lahm who is suspended). Neuer, Rafinha, Hummels, Martinez, Alaba, Alonso, Thiago, Vidal, Ribery, Robben, Lewandowski starting. That's just very German. German's tend not to dance around a subject, but to be straight forward and critical.
I still think it will be a classic Arsenal- a really nice win that's juuuuuuust short of getting us into the next round.
Don't see it this time around. This team has major issues in the midfield, and an intelligent team cuts through our midfield with ease. Only question is how aggressive Bayern are, especially against a fairly attacking Arsenal lineup. I do like the Xhaka/Ramsey/Ox midfield, and want to see how it functions, but trying it for the first time against Bayern Munich is, ummm, bold. But if you're already 5-1 down, why not?
That's my feeling as well. Bayern players will be playing a gear below normal due to the lead, and will get caught out by the pacey attackers that Wenger has decided to start.
