Ok, I'll have a laugh with you and pretend this isn't ridiculous nonsense.

Where exactly would Dave play? In instead of Pires? Not on my team. Instead of Freddie? Not on my team. Silva, Vieira? Not on my team.

Let's see, we have an aging goalie with no one solid to replace him. We're playing a defender out of position (Lauren) and we still don't have a stud partner for Sol. DB10's only got a season left and we've got stud midfielders (Edu, GvB) who can barely get a game. Yeah, let's go splash out money on Becks.

Why, oh, why? I can't believe it. And I really don't believe it. Call it a hunch, (or as el presidente said, too many quality players) but I don't think he'll go to us. Ship him off to 'Pool or MLS (preferrably the Burn, since it's what he deserves...) Becks at Arsenal. Doesn't sound right, does it?

Much as I would love to have another player named Dave (besides Seamo) playing for the Arsenal I just couldn't stomach the thought of that bottle blonde ponce suiting up in Arsenal colors.

Not to mention that it's total rubbish anyway. He'd never move 'cause he couldn't wear the number 7 and he seems unable to function without that number on his back.

As amused as I am at the thought of Becks being shepherded around the midfield by Viera, uh... no.

Taylor Twellman, on the other hand, would be kind of cool. Maybe in a couple of years his contract with the Revs will be up, and he'll be seasoned enough to handle Premiership play. Just in time for DB10 to retire. :D

How in the course of a month did Arsenal, a team without what you would traditionally call "flashy" players, somehow get into the running to sign either David "Look at me I'm soooooo pretty" Beckham and Ronaldo?? Like when my beloved Washington Redskins signed Deon Sanders, I will grin and bear it, but I dont want Beckham OR Ronaldo...

Could we do something like the old day-traders used to do? Buy him for 30m and sell him to Real for Ronaldo +/- cash the same day. I don't really want to have either of them, but given the choice I'd take the ugly guy over the pretty boy.

Of course, this is just another stupid rumor and not to be taken seriously, but it's fun to play "what if."

I think your post answers your own question. He'd be the new keeper.

No good, he doesn't react well with objects flying at his face, which is kind of a prerequisite for goalkeeping.

But he DID get his face in front of that boot, and a ball is much bigger. He might have to get used to broken, bloody noses, but we'll see.

And isn't "Beckham to Arsenal" one of the signs of the Apocalypse?

If Beckham came to Arsenal, Wenger would promptly move him to central midfield, where he can have a much greater overall influence on the game.

It won't happen at Arsenal - might it happen on the England national team one day?

He made the save. Period. And was willing to sacrifice his pretty face. Sounds like the kind of guy I want in the nets.

I heard Man Utd wouldn't part with Becks unless for a bid at the very LEAST of 100m pounds. Translation: Lil' Davy ain't goin anywhere.

Arsene Wenger has already "rubbished" this report which has been made on the back of the "Fergie" incident, and the papers still wanting to keep the story going. If he is going anywhere, (which he won't), it would probably be Milan or Madrid in pole positions, despite the fact that "Posh" would prefer him to be London based and closer to "home".

    Delicious Irony...

I LOVE it-the media have done everything they can convince us if not the great man himself that Patrick Vieira was leaving for somewhere, in fact, anywhere else, the last four years or so. And now as it appears he will finish his Career at Arsenal (I WAS going to say Highbury, but...) it is none other than David Beckham rumored now to be headed elsewhere, possibly to Arsenal even. Just delicious the irony as Fergiescum actually tried to lure Patrick north just last year and now has to fear we will steal his "jewel". The quotes are no mistake. We simply do not need baby becks. But the irony does tickle me right now. And it must kill Ol' Red Nose. Especially as Wenger mockingly dismisses it as opposed to Fergie fighting for Patrick Vieira's freedom from his Arsenal prison a year ago. Another nail in Fergiescum's head games coffin...the Mancs are finished. Long Live Wenger! Long Live Arsenal!

Anyone else thinking, "damn, that's unlikely, and as much as I dislike Becks as a person, he and Freddie would make a mad combo on that right side of midfield"?

Beckham's value to Man Utd as a marketing tool goes far beyond what he does on the field.
It would take a hell of a lot of Euros to take him away.
Even if he's not performing at his best on the field, if the hair is okay, he'll stay.
One little example: The top web search at Google last year in Japan for a sports star was him.
