I'm already tired of yesterday's game analysis (and tired from watching the damn election here in the U.S.) and want to move on to this weekend's IMPORTANT tie at Selhurst Park. Time to gain momentum back and win convincingly with Chelski on par with us.

Palace is much improved recently and without Campbell we will need to keep a close eye on Johnson. However, I think the squad will bounce back and exploit a shoddy Palace defense for a 2-0 win, with goals by Reyes and Ljungberg. And the game will be on TV in the U.S. :)

    I see this line-up

    ------------Lehmann------------------
    Lauren----Cygan----Toure-------A.Cole
    Ljungberg---Vieria----Fabregas----Pires
    --------Reyes--------Henry-----------

    Bergkamp should be rested.

Johnson has been in solid form for Crystal Palace.

Agree 100% on Bergkamp. The squad looks tired overall. I'd actually like to see Van Persie get a run in the slot behind Henry:

    ---------------Lehmann---------------
    --Lauren----Toure-----Cygan----Cole--
    --Freddie----Vieira-----Cesc----Reyes-
    ---------Van Persie----Henry----------

I'll take any kind of win - we need the boost. 2-1.

ibreak, I agree and agree. We need an Arsenal win to get the team back on a winning track before Spurs, and it will be welcome relief for us ArsenalAmericans.

RvP should make a start up front. He has played well and needs a start and more good first team experience.

i think this is the time AW uses van persie from the start... we need a spark in a major way and the kid is ready to give it a go...

I think we need to make even more changes. What about

    ------------Lehmann------------------
    Lauren----Senderos----Toure-------A.Cole
    Van Persie---Vieria----Edu----Pires
    --------Reyes--------Henry-----------

Senderos needs games and this is as good a time as any. Cesc has done well and I know that Edu's not been great but maybe 3 games in a week is too much at this stage.

Two weeks ago this seemed like a total gimme. Now Palace are in decent form and you've won one of 5 games.
I expect you to win, of course, but I also expected you to beat Southampton too.

I can live with this. Only because it's Palace, mind you. Generally, I wouldn't want to throw out 2 players for their first Arsenal league starts unless injuries forced my hand.

as for the game, i hope we crush them. something tells me it will not be as much of a walk in the park as I expect, 1-0 to the Arsenal, goal by Reyes in the 2nd half.

Can't start van Persie yet. He has to come off the bench for now. He'll have his start against PL sides in the league cup and probably FA cup games. He's going to be used more in the 2nd half of the season, when we'll need fresh legs if we are in mutliple competitions (league and FA cup, CL and PL) at the same time.

We just don't need a victory, we need a convincing victory. We aren't supposed to struggle against the Palaces of the world. They are in form which makes it tough, we're away, its also a derby. The biggest derby for Palace fans, even above Chelsea I think.

2-0 or 3-1 is needed or better and then on to the scum!

Just win, baby. Maybe part of the problem is they worry too much about getting style points. Put the ball in the net. Stop the other team from putting it in the net.

    Go team.

:( Just not feeling too much enthusiasm about anything about now.

I think we will get it right this saturday. We will keep a clean sheet and Cygan will have a good game (i can't believe i just said that!) to make up for the blunder midweek. I think Bergy and Vieria must be rested. I would also be up for resting Reyes and playing Van Persie - although Reyes is still very active, we need to make sure he doesn't play too many games because he wont play well at the end of the season (like henry a few years back). Reyes is still learning and adapting to the english game especially the physical side of things.
    4-nil gunners!

    Lehman

    Lauren Cygan Toure Cole

    Ljungberg Cesc Edu Pires

    Henry Reyes

We have certainly had an interesting couple of weeks. I believe we will settle down and get back to business this week. Sol is not back yet judging from the proposed line ups but maybe moving Kolo over and giving Senderos a run out might not be a bad idea. Also agree with Phishy-let Van Persie have a run out too.

3-0. Our reserves are miles ahead of Palace. Van Persie starts and is involved in all the goals.

AW should throw Almunia in as well to see how does. Will send a message to Lehmann.

Arsenal needs to make a statement. Lets trust the guys that built that streak and allow them to get their confidence back. That means Ljungberg, Pires, Vieria, Bergkamp, Reyes, Henry, and yes - even Lehmann - must start. Their confidence is down and we need them to get it back up. I love RVP and Fabregas, but they aren't the guys that will take us to the promised land in the CL and the EPL. If anyone struggles, I'm all for bringing them on. If not though, lets let the main guys get their confidence back. They wont be playing mid-week and then have a tricky game against the Spurs before the all important PSV trip.

Sorry, going to be driving to Houston myself. Was thinking of going early and watching the match there, but will have the wife, kid, and dog in tow. Thank goodness for the DVR! Going to watch the match Sunday night.

Sounds similar to "ManU aren't a great side any more, there is a great gap between these teams talent wise. 4-1 or 3-0 to the Arsenal."

This statement is foolish. Palace have the hottest striker in the league. Johnson has scored in all but 4 games so far (7) and has 4 goals in 4 matches. I would would say Arsenal is certainly capable of a win, but it wont be a walkover.

thats what I would do, but I'm going to be at a buddies house until sunday night and do not have a way to record FSW at my house. Plus my buddy has FSW so I will not be able to stop myself from watching highlights when I'm drunk on saturday night, but I would like to know the outcome of the game in the afternoon. I am going to watch a swim meet and will not be in front of a computer until late

I hate to agree with you, but I will. Perhaps we are being punished for our hubris. We need to forget about streaks and who's where in the table and who's among the best teams in the world, and just knuckle down and win games.
