During a web-meeting of the Arsenal America board last night, I announced my decision to step down as President of Arsenal America effective immediately. The amount of time I am able to commit has diminished considerably since my move to a new job in a new city back in June. Therefore, the board conducted an internal vote, and has chosen Steve Rossen (aka DallasGooner) to take over as president effective immediately for a term that will last no less than the remainder of the 2007-08 season. This May, a general election will be held for the following board positions: President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary and Ticket Officer. Nominations for those positions will be accepted beginning in late March, with the election to take place the first week of May. Please bear in mind that board members are subject to a background check conducted by Arsenal FC. So if you’ve got some double homicides or a severe drug problem that you’ve been hiding, it’s probably best that you don’t seek a nomination. More details about the entire process will be provided by Steve in the coming weeks. Before the conclusion of last night’s meeting, the remaining members of the board asked me to stay on as the lead website editor and as member of the board in an ex-officio capacity, which I am happy to do. Please continue to contact me at mikek AT arsenalamerica DOT com for any website related matters. Please join me in welcoming Steve in his new role as President of Arsenal America. He’s currently traveling abroad right now, but will be introducing himself to you all very soon. Steve can be reached at steve.rossen AT arsenalamerica DOT com. It’s been an honor serving as President for these past three years, and I look forward to continuing to serve the members of Arsenal America for years to come. Sincerely, Mike Kavanagh http://www.arsenalamerica.com
My nomination was clearly not recieved Seriously, well done Steve. See you tomorrow when we can celebrate! Mike, good luck, good to see you can say that rather than holding onto the mantle. Well done for all your work previously and I know that the ArseAm members appreciate it.
I'd run but I'm a serial killer But seriously, thanks for all the work you've done Mike. Good luck to Steve for the future.
Wait, so there are nominations for the Ticket Officer position? RICK'S LEAVING? The nightmare has come true!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Time commitments my ass!! There's a scandal (probably sex) lurking just below the surface. Seriously though thanks for everything Miike, having to travel to the UK to meet TH and all must have been onerous!! Good Luck Steve!! I of course was not born in America and like Arnuld cannot consider serving
Yeah, have you not read between the lines? He's had it with Greater London and the two large islands north of the Eurasian Continent around 50 degrees North Latitude and will relocate to exotic lands in the Dark Continent. All kidding aside, we envy your experiences, Rick. We want to be you, and women want to be with you. We hope all goes well in the land formerly known as (Southern) Rhodesia, in the city formerly known as Salisbury.
I'm hoping its a democratic thing that they get re-elected every year. Hoping... My email inbox is full enough at the moment!!!!
Sure you were born in America! America extends from Baffin Island all the way down to Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. Wait...this needs to go into the geography thread. Still, it's one of my pet peeves.
I think it stands to reason that Rick would be nominated, and if he decides to accept the nomination, he'd win in a landslide. However, that's up to him.
I'll be the ticket person if I'm supplied travel to London and a permanent residence with no charge to me, plus a job!!!
I'll never tell! Meeting TH was of course a high point, but in all honesty it's a bit of a blur because I was going on 2 hours sleep out of the last 40 or so. I'd have to say that meeting as many fellow Gooners as I have is the greatest gift ArseAm has given me.
To quell further comment on the subject!!!!! Firstly, thanks to Mike for all he has done. I know what an unforgiving "job/hobby" this is myself so everything anyone does is appreciated by all - apart from meeting Thierry, you get no thanks at all for that!!!! On me, yes it is looking more and more likely that I will be leaving the UK at somepoint in the near future. When that date is depends on a lot of things. With regards to two positions on the board and nominations - Treasurer and Ticket Officer, obviously these positions are very important to Arsenal America - therefore the position of Treasurer will only be filled from a person already on the board. The position of Ticket Officer is very tricky and in reality I and the club will need to check any nominations. I will be putting myself up for nomination next year, but I do think that that will be my last year. Aaron - have fun mate!!!!
Forgot to tell you - I sell crack to kids, I have a number of harassment convictions and I roll around regularly with an AK-47 under my arm. AM I EXCUSED??!!
Mike, thanks for all you've done for Arsenal America thus far. Cheers to Steve for taking on the presidential role, as well.
Thanks for all the work Mikey! And congrats to Steve on the role as president. Now that we have Texas president, lets make pre-emptive strike and wipe out Sperz once and for all!
I've been sowing the seeds of a Texas presidency since day 1... Seriously, it's good to know that Steve is taking over. You were great, Mike!!!
You and I would have made a great team! No need for a board because nobody would want to argue with us!
Thanks for everything, Mike! Well done and best of luck... We all know what a nuisance J-O-B-S can be when all we want to do is follow The Arsenal! Keep up the good work on the site. Welcome DallasGooner!
