The September 16 issues of Sports Illustrated (American Flag on an [American] football field on the cover) references Arsenal America. Steve Rushin, who writes a column called 'Air and Space' turned his attention to the guilty pleasure of "Schadenfreude," a feeling ArseAm members have turned into an art form. Rushin, in fact, alludes to Arsenal America as "The official American supporters' club of the English soccer power Arsenal." Yep, that's us!

He gets a bit nit-picky however when he declares that our "Schadenfreude of the Week" section is "mere self-interest masquerading as schadenfreude."

Needless to say, Rushin best be careful or he could end up on the UCI or as a "Schadenfreude" subject himself.

Actually, we are not technically "official." I have however received documents from Arsenal regarding supporters' clubs becoming official. That will be a topic of discussion shortly.

It does make you think....He must have been on the website and read through our information. Certianly a Sports Illustrated reporter didnt stumble across the site and he was referred to it by another journalist. Ricks power is beginning to grow!

sent Steve Rushin an email asking how he found us. He wrote back saying he's a big Arsenal fan, the site is great and to keep up the good work. And that maybe he'd see me at Nevada Smith's some time.

Still don't know how exactly he heard of us but it was very cool.

Very cool. I thought for sure Rick knew him and turned him on to the site. I guess there's another soccer fan at SI besides Grant Wahl.
