Arrowhead renovations (The Super Bowl, The Roof and everything in between)

I'll say it again... yes, the designs show that. But they have absolutely NO idea how they're actually going to do it. Those are just drawings at this point. It's just artwork. It's not plans/blueprints. The architechts, designers, builders, etc. have no clue how they would climate-control the stadium. They've repeatedly said so.

 

It's like a Science Fiction drawing, there aren't any actual plans for how to actually do it. Until there is a striaght idea on how to do it, it's all a pipe dream.

 

I wasnt aware of that. The video that I saw was supposedly made by an architectural firm and it seemed to show exactly how everything would fit together.

 

Yeah, I've seen the same video... but it's all speculative artwork. Everybody "in the know" says they have zero idea of how they would actually do it.

 

Hasn't that made print somewhere? I swear I read it that they don't know how it will be accomplished... and I KNOW I have heard it said on 810... but then they are very highly biased against the vote anyway.

 

I thought it had too... haven't spent any time looking for it though.

I personally enjoyed the program on making a ski hill/resort inside a mall somewhere in the Middle East (UAE maybe?).

 

That exists, and you could take your family right now. It's actually a really impressive building to keep everything cold enough.

Hey now, atleast my football team has won a playoff game in the last 13 years. Actually, they have won several and 2 NFC Championships along with a Super Bowl title.

Anyway, I didnt vote at all actually. None of the selections fit my feeling on it.

Why in the world are they proposing spending $400 million on rennovations??
Its driving me insane thinking about it.

In Arizona they are building a landmark, a state of the art piece of architectural wonder. It will feature a rolling roof and a rolling turf. Thats right you can roll the field out to get some good sun/rain. And the price??? $355 million.

How can KC possible justify what they are planning? It makes NO sense. Replicate Arrowhead w/ all the upgrades out by the track. Put the Royals downtown. Move your attendance to your economic centers and profit from residual spending. Or stay in the hood with the status quo, polish the turds and lie awake dreaming and wishing of being a true big league city.

Eh, renovate or re-build Arrowhead at HST and build baseball downtown. Most logical from my way of thinking.

The alleged "economic benefits" are, as always with sports stadia, a sideshow. The community could achieve a better rate of return on almost any other investment of the same funds.

This boils down to yet another attempt to spend public money for private benefit. The voters have proven reluctant to do so, and that speaks well of our community, I think.

What would be good for the Wizards? I'd think if the renovations pass it would be better for our situation.

 

Now that's a good question, one on which I've puzzled and puzzed till my puzzler was sore. The easy answer is that the two situations are unique and unlinked, but that's undoubtedly naive. My sense is that Jeff is probably right, but that if the renovations don't pass, all is not lost.
