Let the rumours start. If it is indeed a "major" announcement it has to be a big signing or a big firing. But knowing TFC it's probably to announce an addition to the menu item.

My guess is that it has to be something involving the management of the club. If it was involving players there would be rumours ahead of time. Plus, a major announcement would likely involve a dp signing and we are already at the max.

Probably Winter and Mariner switch jobs though I hope that they're going to announce that they've successfully cloned 10 more Torsten Fringses.

Winter out is bad move. I know it has to look like they;re doing something to deal with the 0-9 start, but I felt we were finally getting it together.
    Oh well.

It could be big roster movements, but that should have been some rumours from other clubs around already.... or it could be Winter resigning...... or it could be nothing.

From sportsnet: "TFC isn't saying anything beforehand, as a club official told sportsnet.ca "it's worth being in attendance" when questioned about the nature of the announcement."

Given that making the playoffs is nigh impossible, it just doesn't make sense to sack Winter at this point, unless his relationship with the players has really soured badly, or unless they've signed a brand new long term coach, which I don't think Mariner is.

Agreed. i think firing winter is an "easy" option for MLSE but doesn't fix anything. I'm disappointed.

Earl Cochrane has to be fired at least, or the club will keep on bleeding to death.

It makes sense if you are MLSE - show the fans that we're doing something to improve the team so that they'll resubscribe. Sacrifice the long term to make changes for the short term

MLSE and the pressure from media and fans fail miserably at change management. The team sucked in its present form but wasn't supposed to be about now. Building up TFC they way it was planned is like growing a baseball farm system. MLSE had to pull the plug or hand the revolver to winter to resign himself because the fans and media weren't willing to wait it out. Sad really, not only because its 6 managers, but winter never really had a chance to start with. When you build a team culture, and management team you hire a manager and allow him to select his staff. When you allow him to bring in an assistant manager and the owners select and sign a technical director whose sole interest is 4-4-2, and staff from old regimes are forced to stay of course your never going to have your management team on the same page. I wouldn't pin this shit on winter at all, have to look at the others failing there jobs LONG before winter came here and still trying to save face and there own ass.

Globe and Mail is also reporting Winter has been sacked... and when it comes to sports they're always the last to know, so the only question remaining is whether or not Mariner is in the position permanently or if he's the placeholder for the next victim.

And so it's more rebuilding in store for TFC.

So they said Winter also had enough of TFC's upper management bullsh!ts, just like many other former TFC head coaches.

Mariner. He's also Director of Soccer Operations so he's going to make moves and take care of tactics.

Jason de Vos hits the nail on the head:

Listening to Anselmi dodge question after question is just sickening.
