Even before this final match of the season starts, FC Chiasso are in serious doubt of placing 2nd in the Swiss Challenge League (2nd level). Despite holding the first or second place almost the entire season, FC Chiasso have now fallen 1 point behind FC Vaduz and into 3rd place. FC Chiasso need a victory over Schaffhausen, preferrably by several goals. A win by FC Vaduz in their final home match will guarantee them 2nd place. A loss or a draw opens the door for FC Chiasso to get 2nd - and the promotion play-off against Swiss Super League (1st level) bottom 2nd club Neuchatel Xamax.
http://www.football.ch/nl/start.asp?r=/nl/nis/ls/res.asp&sp=1&ls=3751&sg=11809 I checked the table, they are currently in 2nd place. I think they have at least a good chance to get to the playoff game. Its tough when a team is so young, like Chiasso. They have the talent to win every game, but the don't yet have the heads. It will come. Best of luck to them in the last stretch.
Sorry, you are right. FC Vaduz is one point behind. But they have the easier match and are likely to get the 2 bouns points for winning the home-away tie. In order to clinch 2nd place FC Chiasso must win this match on Saturday by two goals. I hope they do it, but it won't be easy.
There is a mistake in the table, Vaduz is indeed one point ahead of Chiasso. Either way, I don't see Vaduz giving up their 2nd place in the standings in their home game against Baden... PS: Thank god the stupid bonus point system experiment will be gone next year.
Vaduz - Baden 5:2 Chiasso - Schaffhausen 6:0 Despite the huge victory, Chiasso will remain in the Swiss Challenge League...
Actually, it appears that FC Chiasso have finished second. According to the Swiss FA's website, FC Vaduz received a 2 point penalty: * = Teams mit Punkteabzug: FC Schaffhausen -2 Punkte FC Vaduz -2 Punkte FC Concordia BS -2 Punkte So apparently, FC Chiasso will play Neuchatel Xamax for a chance at promotion.
