Few clubs would be that petty. If a manager is right, he’s right.

In related news, Romano saying that Anfield are only looking at Iraola.

I had read several articles that insinuated that FSG has a reputation of not going back, no matter what, once snubbed.

    Wow.

Hope we make the right choice this round, it will be more critical than ever given the massive amount of work to be done. Have no idea if Iraola is the right guy, but not really upset about missing Xabi. Maybe there will be a surprise, a magical mystery candidate who's been off the radar.
Yup, Slot is a good guy and a very solid manager, but he proved to be totally out of his depth at LFC. Thankfully the situation wasn't allowed to persist.

I think this had to happen. Slot had lost the locker room as well as the fan base.

The connection with Hughes seems to all but assure Iraola's selection to replace Slot. I hope he doesn't join the legion of managers that have elevated less successful clubs to new heights, but find the expectations at a top level club over their heads.

Often said that Liverpool is one of the most difficult jobs in football. Hope the new guy is up to it.

First challenge - turn doubters into believers.

Romano has already said Iraola is going to be the manager.

Thank you Arne. The 20th league title was incredible. He deserves all the credit in the world for that.

Parting ways was 100% the right call.

  13. Why the signing of the Feyenoord set piece coach recently, a few days ago?
The Spanish team will bring their own staff with them.

They didn't sign him though - it was just alleged that he was going to join

Too bad, Enrique would be my first pick but I'm good if its Iraola. I like the football he had Bournemouth play.

Or maybe Xabi wants a lot more control of everything than they are willing to give to the manager.

ETA: or give to the Head Coach - as the club referred to Arne in their statement.

either way - happy we are moving on from Slot. Thanks for winning the league with aklopp’s team in ‘25.

Thanks for the league title. I maintain led throughout that thos season was an aberration because of all the circumstances that the club dealt with. Unfortunately for Slot, he seems to have lost the dressing room and that's well nigh impossible to come back from.

Iraola has been impressive at Bournemouth. Will that translate to a much bigger club if he does get appointed? I hope so.

I would also guess that after allowing Brendan Rogers to continue on after a bad season, they were not going to do the same here with Slot.

At least that was part of the analysis.

The stakes are too high to risk a bad start to the season.

    It is.

It’s not just a job, as Hodgson thought it was but an emotional investment in the city and its people.

I see Iraola has been mentioned, and I’m not sure how much of that is 2+2=22, but when people talk of losing key players and still adapt and continue to make each opponent hard for the points he’s the epitome of that. But it’s Bournemouth, not Liverpool where the expectations and pressure are much higher.

Yep. If it is him, he needs to deal with constant low-block defences which week after week. The best coaches struggle with it.
