For me, Slot is no longer viable. His record this year doesn't warrant more time, and we waste a summer where we could be recruiting badly needed top players. Who will we be able to attract with Slot (likely a dead man walking) in charge?

I think thats one big problem we'll have if we keep Slot ie the lack of confidence many now have in Slot but as loyal Reds we will generally get behind our coach most times . However if we find the team in a bad run of games early on I expect any fragile support for him to crumble very quickly. Then we're potentially in another crisis and searching for a replacement.

The title is certainly something we should be focused on next season.
    Arsenal aren't that good.
    citeh have Maresca taking over.
chelsea are a mess, even with xabi there.

chelsea and united have attracted players with a rotating cast of managers at their helms.
It shouldn't be a problem. "Last season was a blip. You're the cornerstone of this new version. We'll challenge for the title next year with a healthy Isak, an integrated Wirtz, and with you (insert player name) as the winger benefitting from it all."

If we can get Hoeness, we should move on from Slot.

I've been decidedly #SlotIn, but his support within the dressing room has collapsed and this is now difficult to recover from.
Rodgers lost the fans and the dressing room and had Klopp waiting in the wings so it was an easy decision to make for FSG.
With no similar such manager available it's more of a gamble, but it probably should happen if we can get a manager with similar philosophies to the pressing style we once played.

It's a WC summer. If we bring in a new guy, he'll have very little time to work with the returning WC players. So that leans towards keeping Slot (I guess, who TF knows any more)?

And - if we end up making a bunch of squad changes beyond Robbo and Mo (names being thrown around are Ali, Joe, Ibou, Mac, Chiesa - maybe others?) it doesn't matter who the manager is, he'll have an enormous challenge on his hands.

Starting to feel like we're damned if we do, damned if we don't ....

I’d be mightily surprised if anyone at the club will let slip what has been decided, if anything has. There will be a review, despite what many of us think (and I think he hasn’t done much this season to convince ), want to happen or have decided has already happened. The club owes him the opportunity to explain himself, at least, including what he would do if given a chance to go again next season.

I have to agree. Plus, in the immediate time after the WC, there will most likely be a few of those managers that are looking for work. If Pool wait until say a month or 2 into the season, those options (at least the good ones) will be gone.

There must be dozens of people who could do these jobs - doesn't require any special high skill set with a rolling object. When an air traffic controller quits the airport gets another one..... business-schmizness stuff is all I see in this part of the merry-go-round......

    Some are better than others.
Could say the same about managers...but we know that isn't right.

Managers have to instill something into their players. pen-pusjhers don't.

i honestly couldn;t are less if it's Richard Hughes or A.N. Other doing that role - incompetent fools excepted of course. i wouldn't want Kash Patel doing it for example.

It'd be an indication of hell freezing over if there were no rumours about [insert name] replacing Slot right now.

Imagine if Xabi hadn't gone to Chelsea - his name and ours would be together on every football site in the world.

I think Chelsea have some good young players. With no CL Xabi could help them make some noise in the league. As things stand, I would bet they are ahead of us in the league next year. New players and coach would make me revisit that bet.

Depending on what happens on Sunday Chelsea may not be in any European competition next season.

[] NEW: Liverpool are closing in on the appointment of Etienne Reijnen to their coaching staff, a move that would underline the club’s continued support for Arne Slot.

The club are backing Slot’s request to strengthen his backroom team this summer. Deal is progressing.
    [@AHunterGuardian]

Slot in if this is accurate. (Reijnen is the guy he wanted to bring in with him last season but work permit issues came up.)

It's possible but I find it hard to believe. It appears Slot has lost the fans and the players. If they keep him and there isn't significant success, I think the fans would revolt and FSG would never get the trust back. The evidence that he's not the person to lead this team next season is massive and too easy to point to if things go bad. I also believe there is no manager that's a can't miss pick, but at least they will have tried, and the fans will appreciate that.

Baffling if true. It's really hard to see a way back for Slot at this point.
