Here is the interesting thing about this - Mo had his hissy fit earlier in the season and was benched. he's come back since and been better. Not great but better. the more recent pop-off was several weeks back - but doesn't that mean he's seeing things behind the scenes that have him angry in terms of the team/quality etc? The very recent issues came to a head after Villa where - for the 3rd game in a row with a week off - we were shite. I think he's sounding the alarm bells that if this is the manager next season we are ********ed. Call him egotistical - but I know he loves the club more than Slot does.
From the owner's point of view, there are mitigating circumstaces this year, plus he won the league last year. He says with new players and different mentalities next year, things will be different. It was their collective vision to bring in these new players and the next batch, so they are obligated in some way to at least give their vision a chance. So Slot gets one year for proof of concept.
FSG are apparently big believers in data and so are Edwards and Hughes. I've seen reports that despite the dire performances this season Slots data still has him ahead of Xabi and as Lem state above Slot will get another go next season. Lets hope they are correct.
What a disgraceful thing to say to Mo Salah. I've been trying hard to not go full-on Slot Out, but that is bullshit!!!
I think this is a fundamental truth at Anfield these days. Everything I’ve heard from those who should/might know, everything I’ve read indicates that Slot is still the man. As much as fans want to convince themselves and are convinced that he’s gone tomorrow, Anfield is not listening to the howler monkeys in the peanut gallery. They have a vision and they’re going with it. Where the wheels will come off is when/if Slot becomes financially toxic. That is, 5k season ticket cancellations or no European football or sponsors who decide they don’t want to be associated anymore or their terms are ridiculous. Absent those possibilities, Slot stays. Let’s face it. Slot has lost the fan base at the moment. Believers to non-believers inside a season. But if Slot has Liverpool top of the league looking strong next December, purring along in the CL and generally looking good, the Arne Slot song will be sung again on the Kop. Say what you will, we fans can be a very fickle bunch. When the sky’s not falling, we’re planning world domination with nothing else in between. If it were my money, my club, I would be taking a very close look at all things Slot and I’d be prepared to pull the trigger. As it actually is right now, I’ll bet. But those conducting enquiries and investigations are not living in an alternate universe. They see what we see, except they have all the inside knowledge. They’re not keeping Slot on for shits and giggles, they’re keeping him on because they know something or see something that we don’t. I sure as shit don’t know what they’re smoking and I think on balance I’d probably get rid, but the itch I can’t scratch is that I know the guys and gals making these decisions know a f.uck ton more about football than I ever will. And more importantly, they know a f.uck ton more about Arne Slot that I do. It’s the iceberg principle, we’re only seeing the 10% when most of the work and knowledge is buried where we can’t see it. I’m not blindly adhering to the corporate line either, but I do know I would need to understand a whole load more about stats, plans and ideas before I started making definitive declarations.
Odd part here - Edwards, hughes, and Slot all have 1 year remaining. With Edwards and hughes reportedly looking at Saudi money (Edwards - no MCO model).
The other aspect of this is management's appetite for inability to bring in top talent to a failing team without a clear playing style or vision, run by a manager who has clearly lost both the players and the supporters. Going to be a long summer and fall for Slot and Liverpool.
No one else, and certainly no one reputable has picked this up. On first blush, it seemed legit to me but the more I dug into this, it kept coming back to one source, The Kopite View. I’ve never heard of it before and those comments are just too incendiary and headline grabbing not to be on the BBC or The Guardian, etc. I’m thinking this was invented. Not dead certain, but entirely possible.
Yep and the World Cup taking many players to North America this summer might well add to the chaos by making it difficult for Slot or whoever to organise a proper preseason with our squad expecting a good number of incomings,
And I'm guessing those are the words he will be using when things aren't better to start the new season.
I always give management and coaches the benefit of the doubt on a lot of things such as player selection because they see so much more than us. BUT how many times have we seen those in charge that are suppose know so much more than us make the wrong decisions on the coaches they choose, how long they stay with that coach (MU Amorin) or players they buy and sell (Chelsea/Mo). I think the evidence this year that Slot does not have the ability to get the most out of these players is overwhelming.
Btw - Robertson also made pretty clear comments about the standards slipping. Mo is an easy scapegoat because he's done it before (had spats) - but that's what happens sometimes with the super elite players (obviously he isn't one this season).
The missus asked me why I was in a bad mood this morning. I told her I'm starting to have Slot Fatigue.
You never know - Jose Mourinho went from great to cr@p manager, so one assumes somethign of the reverse is also possible
last one was very low key for me to, in comparison. This one, I won;t even be sitting at the piano....
I've officially slipped from the Slot skeptical to Slot out. Needed to win one of the last three matches to seal up Champions League qualification and have looked worse in each match. I get injuries but guess what? Every club deals with injuries. Not sure this side can beat anyone at the moment and when the system is performing at this low of a level, you have to look at the one who is responsible for the whole thing and that's him. Every LFC season with this low of a point total had either a manager fired during the season, at the end, or early in the next season. Doesn't look promising.
According to Teamtalk- Liverpool are now holding serious internal discussions over sacking Arne Slot due to concerns behind the scenes at the club. FSG are increasingly alarmed not only by results but also by the broader atmosphere surrounding the squad and project heading into the summer. Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are understood to be continuously assessing the situation and discussing possible future scenarios.
Yeah it's unknown. as several have noted - if we qualify for CL they will probably stick with him. and then have to fire him 5 games in. I should go on record that I would start next season fully supporting him - but based off this season and the last two months of the prior season - I don't know why results would be different.
