I mentioned this in my remarks in the post-match thread, but got no response so I'll post it again. Did anyone else see Armas wince in pain and grab his right knee during the N.Z. match? Does anyone have any info about this?
I saw that. I didn't really notice wincing so much as making sure that nothing was wrong. I chalked it up to psychology. It usually take the knee less time to heal then it takes the mind to trust it again.
I know in football when people tear an ACL, it normally takes them a year for it to heal fully and then another half a season before the player fully trusts it again. This depends upon the player and the severity of the injury, but I know it is a guideline people follow. It is also possible that the knee was bothering him because the weather went from unseasonably cool and wet to hot and humid. Sometimes injuries are sensitive to changes like that.
I've torn ACL/MCL. Still waiting for that full recovery. I did see him wince, but that kind of surprise pain will happen every now and then. The weather definitely affects how the knee feels, but mostly when you are inactive, not in the flow of a game. At least, that's my experience.
He winced because he got whacked on it. He was bludgeoned by a NZ player right on the knee. He winced briefly, and then played as if nothing happened. He's fine by all appearances. Kevin
