Thanks for that link. Reading an article like that, you see why I get so riled up over the vitriolic loathing and crass dissing of Armas that has often characterized discussions of him on this board. Remember, 6 years ago, this was a guy, from a no name school, who toiled in the A league, worked his way into MLS, was behind another defensive mid, then became a stalwart for a cup winning team, and by dint of incredible effort, determination, and -- yes, talent -- made himself a first choice starter for the USMNT. All this, when 6 years ago it looked like Long Island Roughriders and the Puerto Rican national team was as good as it was going to get. Looks like he's bringing that same attitude to his rehab.
Good find, Jim. Well said. Too bad you've had to say it over and over. However, the one good thing about the Armas-hating contingent: when they show themselves, you know you're usually dealing with a poster who doesn't know a hell of a lot about how soccer is played, especially away from the ball or away from the attacking end of the field. Luckily, Armas found some coaches who can appreciate his gifts, even if the casual fan can't.
I'm with you and Karl Keller on this one. (Much as I appreciate Mastroeni's play) it still pisses me off to remember the feckless ghouls who damn near rejoiced over Armas' injury during Cup preparation. Thanks for the link.
Armas will come back to the National team in his regular spot, moving Mastro back to partner with Boca.
