back to the question at hand - typical sports and college bars, what is there to do Tuscon/Pheonix area?
Also, good places to eat or places to avoid. I know I'll spend the rest 4 years of my life there and would probably learn all this on my own, but I want to know before hand.
I visited Arizona for the first time a few yrs ago. Tucson was great. I stayed at a place in the foot hills (?) and checked out the chicks at UA, and went to Sedona. I also visited Phoenix (horribly disappointing). My trip was to take me to LA for 4 days. I was there 2 and left to go back to Tucson.
Well, I guess I expected a city with 4 major sports teams to have a fairly vibrant city. There just wasn't a whole lot to do. And I was there with a native. Pretty landscape...just disappointing.
I have a friend that is a monk at St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Monastery just outside of Florence: www.stanthonysmonastery.org I want to go visit him. Are you moving out there 'nutter? If so, I can make two visits in one trip.
I'm from Phoenix and go back there every other year or so to visit my sisters and I totally agree with you. Outside of ASU and the surrounding area, I find the rest of the place rather boring despite it's size. Oh yeah...but I do love cruising that one road that has the hookers. WTF is the name of it? It's the one that you take to get north of Tempe and then somehow it curves to the west and heads you into downtown. Oh...if you are a used CD freak you definately have to hit Zia Records right across from ASU. Near the corner of Mill and University I believe. That place kicks ass!!!
Are you directing this question to me? I've been out of school more than 20 years, but my bro-in-law lives in Tucson.
If you're going to be in Arizona you MUST eat at Ochoas. That is the best resturant in the universe! I could eat their quesadillas every day for every meal.
The best Mexican food in the Valley bar none is "Los Dos Molinos." The owner's family members do the cooking, the atmosphere is great and the margaritas are magic.
