Translation, anyone? (other than the standard babelfish)

"They are Yankees AT home, in house, in Buenos Aires, in the Chocolate box"

"They say that they are very comfortable and that they treat Barbarian"

    and it ends with...

"Equipment of the pile, with some outstanding like Pope or the Bolivian Brown Jaime and who plays with 3-3-2-2. Equipment that will remain ten days more and than, unlike which makes the United States, gives much ball us. Or it hopes that we give ball them. OK."

If you're going to post poems, make sure you respect the author's intention and post the line-breaks as well.

Translation, sigh, ok, here you go.

    Yankees at home

Yes, for the first time we have an American team here at home: the Metrostars, that won yesterday at the Bombonera. They want to take Argentine players.

"Go back, go back!" Who's there? Whose are those screams asking the defenders to go back?

"Mike, Tim, Joe!" Who's arguing with the ref?

"How many, how many?" Who's asking how many guys for the free kick wall?

They're the Yankees at home, in Buenos Aires, at the Bombonera. They are the boys of New York's Metrostars who are around here. Don't be afraid, they've still not demanded to have an American team in the Argentine tournament. They came here by their own decision, they settled at Pilar's Sheraton Hotel to do their pre season camp (the MLS starts april 12th). It's a novelty, isn't it? See, although they got farther than us in the World Cup, although they kicked our butt once in Copa America Uruguay 95, the way they praise us!!!

Coach Bob Bradley, who in December had already come to check details for the trip, told Ole one of the reasons for the strange decision of preparing in Argentina: "Here you have very good players and we have the opportunity to compete against them, just like against Boca. This is one of the most important leagues in the world, it's impressive, very hard. I try that my players observe how they hit the ball, the precision".

They didn't face any of the heavy weights of the leader of the tournament (Bianchi did coach), although there was a player who was solid and seduced him with his game: Joel Barbosa. "After the first 20 minutes I had realized how good of a player he is". Another one that got them interested was Juan Marcos Forchetti. Could they go? Well... they came with the firm idea of taking two Argentine players and they're doing that, looking and looking. "It would be nice to have two Argentines, although they cannot be stars because of our budget", which is aproximately 1.7 million dollars a year.

They say that they're very comfortable and that they're well treated. They're happy and not only because they beat the "Xeneize" kids 1-0. So it says Eddie Pope (29 years old), a national team player who was in the Korea-Japan World Cup and who scored the goal yesterday: "There's a lot of passion for soccer and we're watching many games on TV. In our country you can't get many of them, so now we're taking advantage of this situation and we are watching them in our free time. And the truth is that the level is very good, you always learn".

-What it meant to play at the Bombonera?

-Very nice, felt a lot of pride.

Humble, with a low profile, the people of Metrostars came to see and learn. To perfect themselves and get better, trying not to think in their country's conflict with Iraq, talking the least possible about that and in permanent contact with their families. They're doing that, they feel happy thanks to the good will towards them, for the warm weather and the accomodations: "We're practicing at Mapuche Country and the fields are first rate. Everyone is very happy and to me, being Argentine, is great that this experience is turning out to be so good", says Ernesto Motta, the team's press chief who, besides, does play by play commentary for the club's official radio station. He was the one who made all the contacts with Boca for the friendly and who next Sunday will take the whole squad to the stadium, "although I'm a River fan. Even the club's president is coming", he says. Another one in their favor, the exchange rate: "Well... to come here is cheap for us. I bought a few things in December", confesses the coach with a smile, a skinny nice guy.

A mid table team, with a couple of stars like Pope or Bolivian Jaime Moreno and that plays with a 3-3-2-2. They will stay for ten more days and, unlike United States, do take us seriously. Or expect us to take them seriously. Ok.

    Excellent!

That was a very flattering article. Man, I wish our mainstream writers were as nice.
