Well it seems that while Hudson was the first in MLS this season to scout Argentina, he wasn't the best. According to a thread in the Metros forum, they're signing 3 young Boca Juniors players as TI's. The poster is pretty reliable:

Two defenders and an attacking midfielder. I don't think those are the positions that we needed, and thus probably not positions that Hudson was interested in, but still, it is interesting.

you also have to take into account other factors, such as money available to sign players and Metros scouting talent. Remember, this is the team that made Steve Shak the #1 pick 2 years ago and he's already out of soccer.

I don't know anything about the players. But I'm assuming that they'll need work permits (as will Guevara). That should take 4-6 weeks (unless the war slows things up further). I think what that means is that Guevara and the 3 Boca TI's will have to be on their roster for openning day but won't be eligible to play until early May? Or maybe they won't have to count on the roster until they have permits, but they will be on the cap I thought. Maybe the kids will be good contributors. But I'd think it would be very tough on the SoS to basically have a 14 man roster for the first month of the season.

Also, regarding the scouting trip, I thought the SoS's PR guy was from Argentina (and he did the league work to set up Bradley's initial trip). Plus, they then scrimmaged against Boca full/reserve sides twice--that would give you a real "in" on evaluating the talent and attracting them.

I think it is possible for the US Embassy in Buenos Aires to issue work permits. I will check with my brother who happens to be a FSO at the embassy in Buenos Aires to see what the deal is.
