I would highlight Nico G. more alongside Otamendi. Nico should have tracked Rios from the beginning and was just ball watching the whole play
Ottamendi's is useless. Slow, weak, Low football intellilgence. Can't jump anymore. A 36 year old man whose still crying. When you have lisandro and cuti who do the job better, make less mistakes, cover more ground and don't act like a 12 year old after a bad moment. Why is he on the team? He's the one person you depend on the proper posiitioning because he has "years of experience". Yet on both goals none of his intelligence was located. The first goal was an open road to dibu and the goal. Supposedly our best jumper is Ottamendi who didn't read the ball or jump for it. Then he gets caught out of position in the 2nd ball and is too slow to track back to cover it. What's he do, typical 2014 defending. Slide in the box.
After a day and trying to analyze it with clear head , I think everyone outside a few like Cuti & Mac werent playing well. I wouldnt overcritical over this particular performance. The heat clearly bothering the players including Colombian players. You could see them easily gets countered by us aswell. If only Lautaro bring his scoring boots like in Copa, this would have ended 3-1 easily. Julian also hasnt been clinical for a long time. Even Luis Diaz cant thnk straight and pulled a headless chicken dribbling. They also had a chance from point blank range which the guy hit it straight to Dibu with a weak shot. James did nothing outside scoring that penalty and assisted Nico's goal. Literally both sides performed badly unlike in Copa. Pipinogol was right, Colombia can attack but they're also completely vulnurable againts a counter. We simply didnt burries our chances. That Julian left foot pass to Lautaro was Messi esque.
Yes, but then again, we would have conceided equalizer if Licha didnt put that sliding tackle againts Australia.
Players werent running as much as they used too because of the heat & the non stop pressing we did in previous games few days earlier. We played that Chile game as if its a WC final. Remember that Mbappe run near the end which Cuti, Enzo, Dybala worked together to clears it? Or Cuti and Licha blocking shot together againts Canada? Colombia wouldnt get a sniff if we're able to play with such intensity.
🚨 Inter Miami coach Gerardo Tata Martino has confirmed that Lionel Messi is available for tomorrow's match. 🐐 pic.twitter.com/WGD3IOrpob— Roy Nemer (@RoyNemer) September 13, 2024
Garnacho dropped from the first team for this weekend by ten Haag for liking a Cristina post that indirectly criticized ten Haag. I can understand where Alejandro is coming from. Being dropped from the RW for Diallo & not getting minutes due to egghead's obsession with Rashford.
Every Argentine players on that club ended up being benched or sold , even Tevez who won everything in 2008. Heinze probably the only exception.
That makes it zero Argentine to ever settle in that club for long. Hopefully Garna & Licha can turn that negative trend. Garnacho scored MU third goal today at injury time.
Paz apparently stood out once again for Como. This is the type of quality in the final third Nico Paz offers Como. I can’t understate how much I love this signing.🎥: @FabricaMadrid pic.twitter.com/zRYDKFu1ZI https://t.co/71frVTCPSI— Ben Mattinson (@Ben_Mattinson_) September 14, 2024 I think Scaloni may need to call him up for the next round of qualifiers. I know he has said he wants to represent us, and I am sure he will, be Scaloni cannot drag this out and give the Gallegos a whiff.
Senesi has been excellent today. C’mon Scaloni, Pezzella & Otamendi need to be faded out sooner than later.
Agreed, Senesi is having a great game vs Chelsea today. I have a feeling that he will move to a big club next summer (Juve was interested in him this summer). He just needs to stop getting injured right before the international windows. With Romero suspended in the next match vs Venezuela, this is a good chance to test out Senesi. If Scaloni wants to still try out with this Lisandro LB experiment, then I could see him lineup like this --------------------Alvarez -------------------------Messi Nico G.-------MacA-------Enzo-------RDP Lisandro----Senesi-----Otamendi----Molina -------------------------Dibu
Messi scores in his first game back already. With his right foot. Make that two goals, a more typical one with his left, assisted by Jordi Alba.
A fit Messi can score with his eyes close. The first two goals in Copa opening game was created by him. He hit the post against Chile from distance, then they deliberately injured him which affected his subsequent games. You can see his movement became stiff afterward. Main problem is, now he couldnt withstand hard tackles without having a knock.
Miami plays like they have no midfielders. Nobody's pressing, they just let opponents have the ball. Messi was open for a tap in, and they passed it to Suarez who's marked by two players. Most of Miami players runs twice slower than Biglia.
With a brace tonight, @InterMiamiCF's Lionel Messi has produced 15 goals and 15 assists in his first 19 @MLS games, becoming the fastest player in league history to do so. Messi accomplished this 10 games quicker than the previous record holder (Sebastian Giovinco, 29 games). pic.twitter.com/7bxDXU6xA5— MLS Communications (@MLS_PR) September 15, 2024
Tbh they played a lot more normal without Messi, lol. Having him and Suarez on the field at the same time makes things kinda weird.
Its still kinda hard to watch MLS game because players arent pressing as much as in Europe or South American. They dont even chase a pass to get to the ball quicker, they waited for the ball to arrive to their feet instead While Messi and Suarez finishing are still there, no doubt playing two players of that age means you simply needs a combative players like RDP or Julian to accommodates their lack of movement off the ball. Off course Miami probably looking for another top name players in their late 30s instead. Anyway, its 3 points from Messi's brace & assist regardless . As long someone can get the ball to him in final third, he'd always be dangerous.
For Messi, nice round numbers overall for his career: 840 goals 375 opta assists 1215 G+A 1070 games 1.14% G+A average for whole career Just insane…but it really isn’t the statistics for him, is it.
To be fair to Emi he made the right decision but the defender never tracked the run or even made a challenge. It's a free header from five yards. He was a little unsighted on the first hence the slightly later dive. As to the next WC games if it was me I would make some 'radical' changes. I think the squad needs freshening up and players reminded they are not guaranteed starters. -------------------------------------Martinez--------------------------------------- --Molina/Maffeo-------Senesi-------------Licha-----------------------Soler -----------------------------------Varela----------------------------------------- ------------------de Paul--------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------Mac Allister (c)----------------------- -----Soule/Garnacho----------------------Dybala-------------------------- -----------------------------------Lautaro/Julian------------------------------- Both Soler & Maffeo love to get forward so I'd sit Varela and also expect Soule or Garnacho along with Lautaro and Mac to press high. It's time some of these pibes and those who have progressed well like Senesi get their chances. Others like Enzo need a kick in the pants.
