Speaking of that 4 trophies, the media often mention Argentina emulating Spain achievement, but they ignored the finalissima because Spain lost 3-0 to Brazil in Confedration while we beat Italy 3-0.
Paulo Dybala going to Saudi Arabia. His Argentina national team career is pretty much over. He can still play at a high level. https://t.co/80FBDgM8LC— Roy Nemer (@RoyNemer) August 14, 2024 What a shame
I can understand Dybala doing this. I mean, he wants to cash out, and Scaloni is going to call or not call him regardless. Dybala had a weird and disappointing career based on his talent. He should have had one of those careers where he played for a single club in Europe and became an all time idol for the club. But instead his career seems like a mashup of missed opportunities and almost delivering on his talent. We still didn't get a satisfying answer why he was left out of Copa America (I don't buy the media released reasons). Based on his talent, there should've been at least one or two years where Dybala finished top 5 in Ballon d'or voting; he was never going to be good enough to actually compete for it, but he had enough talent to have been counted. In 2017-2018 with Juventus he looked like he was finally going to take off, but nope. A hard career for me to gauge and have a comp.
To be fair, he's in Juve for 7 full seasons which is as long as Diego's stint at Napoli. He won 10+ titles with Juve which includes 5 serie A titles, equal with Zanetti. Few reasons why he cant win Balon... 1. Injury prone 2. Spent many years in his prime with a team that always choke in CL 3. Messi
l And here I was praising him for not taking money and focusing on football. Nothing is concrete but a move to Saudi Arabia will be foolish. I always felt that Dybala enjoyed being a celebrity more than he did as being a footballer. This was the complete opposite of Messi. His drive and focus always wavered. I remember when he had a stint of bad games that lasted months and he came out and said it was due to personal issues. These issues was that he had split with his long time partner.
So, there are reports the reason why Dybala might be moving his because Roma can no longer flip the bill. His salary is gonna go to 16ME gross. So, they simply need funds to be freed up. I still think it’s foolish move when he’s still got some productive years left. Maybe he senses his time with the seleccion is over might as well leave now rather than in 2026 when there is no guarantee he’ll be at the Mundial. I really wanted to see a Dybala and Soulé partnership. Let’s see what happens.
According to latest report, its not a done deal yet. "Sky Italia have provided an update about the situation, revealing that the meeting between the parties has now ended. Al-Qadsiah put forward their offer for La Joya and they will meet again soon. That is because the Argentine hasn’t quite made a decision about his future yet. He wants time to think about the decision and he will think about it once again, having previously rejected a huge offer."
Sounds like Dybala doesn't want to go, but Roma can't pay his salary and are pushing him out. Not a good situation. I was really looking forward to this Roma team this season. Dybala has been playing the entire pre-season with Roma. This situation is so weird!
Madrid plastics These guys are like clones https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/m...er-teams-thread.2130791/page-43#post-42396998
So disappointed in him (🌕) JUST IN: Paulo Dybala has approved his transfer to Al-Qadisiyah. The Saudi club is now negotiating with Roma to finalize the deal. The negotiation is progressing. @SupaMario said we have to get better and win more. Agreed. Well we can't win more when our best players and top prospects are going to the Saudi league for the bag. You won't improve by playing janitors. I hope Scaloni and AFA make an example out of them.
Paolo Dybala has won more league titles than Totti, Gerard and Zidane combined. He is a World Cup winner; & scored a penalty in one of the best World Cup finals of all time. He’s got 14 major trophies to his name.AND he was a joy to watch. You are laughing at a wrong one. pic.twitter.com/EfKWpZanZ5— SundayLeagueCoach (@sunday_coach) August 14, 2024
La sede de la Finalissima va a ser Estados Unidos o Europa.— Gastón Edul (@gastonedul) August 15, 2024 I bet anything he leaves at the start of next season and says that “He’s leaving because he wants to try to make the 26 team.” Scaloni may get in his ear but personally I didn’t think he would’ve made it even if he stayed in Italy. He’s not going to like living in the KSA.
Perhaps its also one way of being passive aggressive towards Scaloni. Look , I did my job well when needed at WC and Finalissima, having great season in serie A but didnt get selected for CA, so why would anyone care where I move?.
I think he just wants one final big payday. I wouldn’t be surprised if his wife is putting him up to it. Collect 60 million for three years and then come to Inter Miami after(perhaps when Messi is retired). It wouldn’t be surprise me if this is what his trajectory is.
He might not like living their but he'll certainly love the money. I think he knows he's not getting back in the NT set up and he's not getting a move to a top club in Europe that is playing in the CL. So a final, huge, pay day.
Another article mentioned this but obvoiusly it could be just a rumour. “In recent days, Daniele De Rossi told Paulo Dybala that he would have a more relegated role because he saw Matías Soulé performing very well in that position,” said Merlo. “And that led to Dybala giving the green light to Saudi Arabian club.”
Balerdi extended his contract to 2028. With Rulli joining the team, I guess it's not a bad thing to build that relation on the field. 𝟒 𝐚𝐧𝐬, 𝟏𝟑𝟓 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐬 et 𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐫𝐞 avec Marseille 💙𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐨 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢 🇦🇷 prolonge l’aventure olympienne jusqu’en 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣8️⃣ ✍️ pic.twitter.com/VS42U01qkX— Olympique de Marseille (@OM_Officiel) August 16, 2024
Garnacho came off the bench and had an assist. HOWEVER, he will be on blooper-reel today because he literally missed an open net goal. Granted the pass was a bit off the mark but still. It was a bit amusing. Licha played a solid game.
Nothing to see here. Just Jamie Carragher who has spent the last 2 years calling Lisandro Martinez “too small” for the Premier League realising he’s a similar size to him😭💀 pic.twitter.com/dK4CNFoHqD— Jackrudd12 (@Jackruddd12) August 16, 2024
He deserved a payday after his performance in Qatar. He can play like crap for the rest of his career but he played great when it mattered most.
