I mean it’s a different story for fullbacks as their height isn’t that relevant, but you have a point about Kaiser and Cannavaro. Anyway, a lot of tall CBs are actually terrible and very limited. Obviously you don’t want a midget defender, but when they are too tall they often lack pace and mobility. Look at Yerry Mina for example. They may win aerially, but they often lose in all the other battles. Place them against a speedy, technical player and they’re tripping all over the place.
The WC is approximately only 3 months away and I saw some articles recently about WC power rankings and Argentina is being placed at no.1 or at least among the top 3. Not sure if I'm comfortable with that, but I guess you cant escape it given the unbeaten run plus 2 trophies.
The problem with criticism on Licha is that he's playing in sinking ship for the first time and he's being criticized as if he's been bad for 15 games. For intense, during Diego and Bauza's tenure , even top players like Aguero and ADM struggled so badly.
Fullback is different. Cannavaro, Ayala maybe short but they jumped higher than most players and was near unbeatable on the air.
Another player that needs to take it easy is Cuti. I understand that he is a madman but he has to look at the bigger picture here, and that is Qatar. Just take a breather during the group stages and then turn it up a notch during the KO stages. It is the first game of the season and these dudes are getting injured. Knock it off…
And now @ramapantorotto is reporting that Argentina’s next probable opponents are Honduras on 20th September in Miami and Jamaica on 26th Septemeber in New York. ❗️Yesterday @AgenciaTelam, reported that Argentina would face Costa Rica and South Korea. Also, per all the reports and interviews from players, Scaloni is a workaholic. Some players were saying he hardly ever sleeps. He goes into the headquarters to review film and write notes even during holidays. He doesn’t want to miss a single detail in preparing for the World Cup.
1560299481392103430 is not a valid tweet id You know it's bad when even a former English player has to say this lol
Interesting Analysis We have to talk about the Di Maria factor - it's about time. This is something I've been meaning to put into words for a while. The inclusion of Di Maria (who wasn't a regular for Saloni up until 2021) has changed the way Argentina play massively. A thread: pic.twitter.com/oCDDUkgpey— Toto (@totoscrib) August 18, 2022
🗣 Wayne Rooney on Kylian Mbappe shouldering Lionel Messi: "A 22-23 year old player throwing a shoulder at Messi... I have never seen a bigger ego than this in my life. Someone remind Mbappe that at 22 years old, Messi had four Ballon d'Ors." 🏴🇫🇷🇦🇷 this via @DeparSports. pic.twitter.com/mMwqrkYkwW— Roy Nemer (@RoyNemer) August 18, 2022
Rooney's favourite player is Diego. Anyway I agree with all that has been said. Our players need to realize one thing. That is they need to be fit for one objective this season. That is the Mundial. di Maria in particular having missed out on a WC final. You do not need to prove anything. After the the Mundial is over and fingers crossed there are endless parties in Argentina you can do what you want with the old lady of corruption. As for Romero he was stamped on by Cucurella. Should be a retrospective ban. Foyth is being considered by Barcelona. Our players performances have not gone unnoticed at club or international level. Several have moved onto bigger things. And Enzo. Another standout game against Dynamo Kiev. His long range passing from deep is Platiniesque. Surely Lionel if he is planning as he is has to realize forget Mac Allister and bring in Enzo. The kid could well end up marshalling the midfield in the future. Looks a leader to me. Him or Romero. PS Mbappe is a complete you know what. Hopefully someone cuts him down to size. Not exactly Einstein is he ?
Honduras and Jamaica… And not even in SoCal…Smh… I can understand since the largest Argentine community in the US resides there but one game on each coast would have been better. But that’s just me…
I can only think the reason is for less travel, less time zones, etc. I am very disappointed as well.
Nico Gonzalez scored a powerful header less than minutes into the game. He actually jumped really high for that one. Serie A is exciting again with lots of our current squads in it.
Hopefully the non-starter players get a lot of minutes in these matches. It's the last opportunity for Scaloni to try out new players.
What a shot! Lukaku to Lautaro, never gets old https://t.co/RTo9FOqE61— 🔗 (@Gideoomatic) August 20, 2022
