We need more/better competitive matches to tune-up for the WC. I want to see weird line-ups and the ideal starting XI as well.

I'm tossing the Estonia game out the window. This game told us nothing. . . I don't know compañeros, but I think the problem is that European countries haven't played games of great quality to reach the WC because in Europe football isn't as advanced as in South America. Yeah.

I don’t think think Angel is being overlooked, I think he’s just carrying an injury.

It's out fault tho for not taking advantage of our talent and handing euro teams unwarranted victories. Literally we caused this 20 years of supposed euro dominance in the WC (which isnt true when you look at games but people just look at the winner). Brazil talent had declined a lot since 2006 so it was up to us. Was anyone scared of that Italy team who won it then? 2010 Spain barely scrapping by teams with their best squad ever wasn't impressive either. And then we handed a disorganized literally about to internally collapse French team a gift.

This time we are as ready as ever moreover the pressure is gone the players are mentally stronger which was huge hurdle for us especially after many collapses.

This team would probably beat our 2018 version 10-0 lol

Also, after 2002 Brazil hasnt beat any strong side at WC. We at least has beaten Netherlands and Belgium.

I hope Alario blows up wherever he ends up so we don’t need to worry about J Correa missing a sitter in a knockout round. Either that or pray he somehow becomes a great finisher next season.

    Or Gio Lo Fatso…

I don’t think Alario will be in front of Julian or Dybala if he’s on the bench. They both are ahead of him.
I do feel a bit for Angel Correa. He’s had a really positive season.

However, sometimes I feel like it is better to be a bit more defensive than offensive. I sense that all, Otamendi, Cuti, Paredes, Molina, Acuña and maybe even RDP are going to miss a game due to suspension. We just have to be ready for that but we just don’t know which game. Yellows carry over all the way to the Quarters, meaning they can only have one yellow from game one of the group stages to the quarters without being suspended. That is preposterous.

Yellows, should be wiped clean after the R16, then continue to do so from each round. I get that players need to control themselves but to have a player potentially suspended for a semi is again ludicrous. The coaching staff need to get our hot-heads and tell them to control themselves a little bit.

Maybe pick-up yellows in the first two and then miss the third game on purpose? I believe it gets reset or do those two yellows carry over to the KO stages?

Also, Romero seems to be more injury prone for my liking so Romero is probably the first player from the starting XI that will be out through either injury or suspension. Don't see Scaloni playing both Otamendi and Lisandro so I really hope that if Pezzella plays, he plays the game of his life during the WC.

I don't know how reliable this guy is and I'm not even sure the squads will have 26 players. Has that been confirmed yet? It might be 23 from what I understand.

A few things. Rulli should be in that squad ahead of Armani, in my opinion. Keeper is such an important position. We could be in big trouble if Martinez gets injured and Armani gets the spot, but Scaloni obviously has a high opinion of Armani.

Secondly, Foyth should be in the squad instead of Montiel in my opinion. He's used to playing at a higher level, he's performed very well for Villareal and he's also versatile, which gives you more options. If there is a defensive crisis he can cover at CB for example. I know a lot of you disagree on this but I would pick Foyth instead of Montiel.

Thirdly, two names that stick out are Joaquin Correa and Nicolas Gonzalez. I think they're both very lucky if they make the squad. I think there are better options.

Fourthly, Lo Celso should be in the squad but I think he's lucky to always be in the first team. He benefits from being left-footed and giving the team balance and he works hard, but players like Buendia and Mac Allister have much more quality in my opinion and are far more creative and are better ball-players.

I think Scaloni needs to have a good look at Buendia. If you go on the English Aston Villa forums you'll see their fans regard him as their best player, ahead of Coutinho. If there is one spot available I would be tempted to give it to him, bring in Angel Correa instead of Jaoquin Correa or Gonzalez, bring in Rulli instead of Armani, bring in Foyth instead of Montiel.

Of course the team has good vibes and is playing well and is confident so Scaloni won't want to make too many changes and he'll want to keep a good atmosphere in the squad so he'll also be thinking of that when he makes his selections.

Argentina has a solid team with a good midfield and attack, but we need Dibu and Cuti to stay fit and free from suspension. Without those two we would be in real trouble against the best sides. Our back-up defenders and goalkeepers aren't on the same level. It's really great that those two have come into the side. It makes us so much stronger.

-Hernan Castillo is reliable. He did several interviews with the current Argentinian players. The list doesn't mean it's 100% confirmed as things could change in the next few months. FIFA should confirm that the list will be 26 players next month I believe.

-Foyth is a defensive RB and for me doesn't offer much offensively as Molina and Montiel. I don't mind taking Foyth as a 26th player.

-Agreed about J. Correa and he should not be in the squad. Nico Gonzalez is a useful squad player in which nobody in the squad has his characteristics. He had a good season at Fiorentina, especially after Vlahovic had left. He needs to be more impactful in the final third, but his pressing, versatility and speed are traits Scaloni likes and this squad needs that.

-I really don't see eye to eye with you on Lo Celso. Not sure what games you have been watching but Lo Celso is probably the key reason why Villareal were successful in the CL this season and his ball carrying, passing quality and workrate is very important in the starting lineup. If anything, I wish he was right footed.

-I could see why Buendia is out as we have Papu who has a similar playstyle as him. When Papu retires, then I can see Buendia being played more frequently.

-Totally agreed with Dibu and Cuti needing to be fit and free from suspension.

Plus, Papu is that Pocho type player every team needs. He brings the music and the laughs. He keeps thing lighthearted.

Agreed. The WC is not only physically draining, but mentally and emotionally draining as well. A guy like Papu is always needed in any squad.

This is why the squad loves Sabella back then, he knows how to jokes and takes jokes. I remember in one of qualifier game where we struggled (I think at Lapaz), he was asked about the team performance and he said we performed well but everytime they countered I'd rather close my eyes.

Papu will also be good for a goal or 2 and an assist in the group stage. Would be awesome to see him get a WC goal after waiting so long for the opportunity.

No thanks on butterfingers Rulli.. it’s all good if you don’t want Armani, but say Musso or Benitez if anything.. maybe even Ledesma. But at the moment Rulli isn’t it. I would be terrified with Rulli playing at the WC.

I’m not even saying this because of his tragic CL performance. The guy has consistently put in blunders his whole career.

You could probably have Armani and Rulli in goal, and they’d probably allow in a couple of goals.

Thanks for your reply. I think having both Gonzalez and Jaoquin in the same squad is unnecessary. Scaloni should choose one or the other in my opinion, possibly Gonzalez as you say.

Regarding Lo Celso, don't get me wrong, I like him, he's a good player, and you're right, I didn't see much of Villareal, but I watch a lot of the PL and Mac Allister and Buendia are doing things in the PL that Lo Celso never managed, and in much weaker teams. They're both really good players. For me, Buendia has to make the squad. Lo Celso should definitely be in the squad of course but so should both Mac Allister and Buendia. Buendia lacks a little physicality and pace, but even in the most physical and fastest league in the world he stands out with his skill and creativity (and cutting edge). The ceiling is very high with Buendia, far higher than with Lo Celso in my opinion, but maybe that's for the future. I still think Buendia can have an impact at this WC.

The first video is his highlights from last season, his first season in the PL as a young player, which is impressive. The second video is from the season before at Norwich, where he played so well that Villa broke their transfer record to buy him. This video is his goals and assists in that season, a season in which he was incredible and Norwich got promoted. I'm posting this because some of you may not be following him in England, as he seems to be going a bit under the radar.

At the top level, you need players with skill and imagination to unlock defences, and you also need to keep the ball. Buendia is a player that can make things happen and make things out of nothing and he's doing it in a top league.

Regarding Rulli, I take everyone's point, but I'm still pretty worried about Armani and I hope Musso gets the spot if Dibu ever gets injured or suspended.

So Poland got trashed by mediocre Belgium (6-1). Between Poland and Mexico im starting to think our hardest rival in group C is gonna be Saudi Arabia, and im not even joking.
