Speaking of beating Brazil at Maracana...

Its friendly, but almost 100.000 attendence. Brazil with the likes of Romario, Ronaldo, Cafu, R Carlos.

Ah Piojo Lopez… what a player, so underrated. Recently watched a comp of all Batigol’s Argentina goals and so many assist from Piojo when they played together.

True, but my most vivid recollection of him is as being part of the 2002 WC debacle, where he was VERY wasteful with his chances. Veron ended up taking most of the blame, but there was more than enough blame to be shared, including that left flank.

Well, I think Bielsa deserved the blame. Crespo was best goal poacher in the world at the time and only played as late sub. I do remember the game against Sweden was notable for our missing chances. 65% possession , 15 shots (4 on targets). Its still disappointing to think that scoring just one more goal in this game means we eliminated England and went through. That lost to England wont matter since they failed to win the other 2 games, but it was costly mistake from our manager, just like 4 years later in QF.

I don’t even remember the 2002 World Cup. What a blur that tournament was. Not to mention, all the corruption that went on and Turkey and SK making it to the semis. What a disgrace. I think 98 was a great World Cup and 2014 as well(In terms of spirit of the game, not the results).

I mostly remember 2002 for USA's great run to the quarterfinals, beating Portugal 3-2 in the first game and Mexico 2-0 in the round of 16 along the way before being robbed by a blatantly uncalled handball on the goal line by Germany. Still a huge "what if?" had the ref properly called it with a red card and PK. Might have they gone to the semis against South Korea and possibly even the final? Made up for the disappointment with Argentina. I'm sure part of the reason it was a blur was the 2AM game times and such.

Scaloni just made it clear once again that everyone in the team (outside Messi) can be dropped if they do not perform up to expectation.

He also said qualifier and WC are totally 2 different things. The current unbeaten record is unimportant (other than for the press), what matter is to qualify.

That WC was ridiculous. The refereeing was absurd , most notable when S Korea played. Sure, every WC has its controversy, but that one was so blatant, they didnt even bother to hide it. Their victory over Italy, I've never seen more one sided refereeing than that game.

Its also showed that corruption in football is never a conspiracy.

Turkey I think got boasted by Rustu performance. They had key players playing at highest level at the right time, like that Greece in 2004.

With all the PL players now confirmed to have left Argentina and Armani also leaving due to injury, I hope to see a lineup of this vs Bolivia

    Musso---Montiel/Molina, Otamendi, Quarta/L. Martinez, Acuna---Di Maria, De Paul, Paredes, J. Correa---Messi, Lautaro

Damn, poor Musso lol. What does the guy have to do to get a chance?

Rossi’s good though! Maybe not world class, but he’s a pretty decent keeper. I always liked him. Tbh I don’t know if he’s really any worse than Andrada and Marchesin, who both got chances pretty recently.

I guess the whole purpose of this quilombo was to take away a goalkeeper from Boca. :)

But seriously, Rossi is good enough to play, but I’d like to see Musso get his chance. He’s been with the team and I think it’s about time he gets his shot.

Rossi is good, but I think Andrada or Marchesin would be better choices. The reason Rossi was picked is probably logistics. They need a goalie, they play on Thursday, and he's already in Buenos Aires.

Musso should start. Not only has he already spent time and practiced with this defense, but he's actually played in a friendly against Morocco, along with Montiel, Pezzella, Acuña and other current members of the team. So, it wouldn't be his debut.

I wanna go see the Argentina-Bolivia game on the Monumental but the site keeps crashing. Also, when you get in it says "235.600 people before you" and 66789 minutes to go :ROFLMAO:
    Its damn impossible

Just pretend to be a health official and claim Bolivia lied on some paperwork and you'll be able to march right onto the field no problem!

I think having them as super-subs is useful. They can ran at defenders who have tired legs.

Tucu Correa was starting for a time though.

    Latest rumors of starting XI

    Juan Musso
Gonzalo Montiel - Germán Pezzella - Nicolás Otamendi - Marcos Acuña
Rodrigo De Paul - Leandro Paredes - Ángel Di María,
Lionel Messi - Lautaro Martínez - Nicolás González.

I was hoping that Dybala would get a start. But I am sure that he will get to play this game.

Thats a safe line up consisting players who played at Copa other than the goalie, which is understandable. I'm still not convince with Pezzella perfornance though.
