I read Nico is starting ahead of Ocampos.

So Scaloni confirmed the starting XI in his press conference today

Franco Armani, Montiel, Martínez Quarta, Otamendi, Tagliafico; Rodrigo De Paul, Leandro Paredes, Giovani Lo Celso; Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martínez y Nicolás González.

Nicolas Gonzalez for Ocampos. . . mehh. We're not a full strength (Aguero, Icardi, Dybala are missing for "various reasons") so this is Nico's chance to shine I guess.

We really only need 2 goals against Peru to win (please no jinx) so hopefully he plays well with Messi and Lautaro. . . I don't love the line up, but it is what it is

For those who read the news and wonder if the game was going to happen given the political situation in Peru, I can say it 99% WILL happen now that a new likeable president has been named. Good luck tomorrow

The usual suspects of course need to be moved Paredes, Otamendi but all in all not bad. I like what I saw from nico last game and now that he he does have to share the load on defence that should give him more of a chance to shine up front.let’s hope Lisandro makes the bench. Crazy that he didn’t lol.

Are we optimistic before this game? If we score first I think we can win but I have a bad feeling Peru's intensity will be too much for us. Doesn't really matter that they have some notable absentees as their whole squad can play at 110% through the whole match.

Never write out our chance. At our worst , we still beat Uruguay in last game of 2010 qualifier, and it was an away game. Same with last game in 2018 qualifier, we beat Ecuador away , even though we're down 0-1 after few seconds.

Its only the fourth game out of 18, so its not even a quarter of the qualifier. I'd not be panicking and I expect a solid win.

This is a game that if we lose, eventually we will look back at it as a "game that should've been a Win" - I hate the lackadaisical and lethargic approach from some of our "proven players." In truth, Argentina should win at least 50% of the SA qualifiers just on GANAS. . . God I miss players like Mascherano and Sorin who would always bring effort to every minute

Lol I'd like to remind you that last time we played in Perú Mascherano GIFTED the ball out of nowhere (no pressing or anything) to a peruvian attacker which ended in a penalty that ultimately costed us the win in a moment of the match in which we were playing better. So, not sure about that "effort to every minute" thing.

I take Mascherano over any of our midfielders and defenders right now. . . and so would you

Masch is a legend so I don’t know people will go out of their way to disrespect him. When he brought so much joy to us. However, he’s done the WC 2018 was dreadful.

As for today’s game we should take the W anything less is a disappointment.

Our win v Ecuador is looking better and better. They are currently beating Colombia 3-0. Granted it is in Quito but still.

    And lol@Germany.

Bro, it’s not that serious... there’s a long way to go and points can be dropped here and there.

I agree that we should win tonight and also believe our players have more to offer than what they have brought to the table so far, but a tie or loss in Lima at this stage in the qualifiers wouldn’t be the end of the world.

4-1 now, and still 20 mins to go...

All this on top of their 3-0 loss to Uruguay a few days ago... hard to believe that’s a Carlos Queiroz team with such a weak defensive record. I bet the Colombians are dying to have Pekerman back...

Not going to lie, for a second there I thought you were talking to yourself, which will make you... loco!

5-1 now. And Venezuela is up 2-1 v Chile. I guess these are good results for us.

Wasted a lot of time to figure out that it obviously wasn't a penalty.

Beautiful interplay down the left side between Tagliafico and Lo Celso. Great moves by Lo Celso to setup Gonzalez who made a perfect first touch and powerful strike to finish. Bravo!

Finally we get a dagger pass from Paredes! Very nice assist....

Good run and finish by Martinez. He almost missed the open net? haha
