How good is Pereyra? He just joined Juventus, but various sources claim he's a winger, a midfielder, a forward..... For the friendly against Germany, I would like to see -------------------Messi--------------------- Di Maria---------- ? ----------------Iturbe -------------Mascherano-Biglia-------------- Rojo-----Garay------- ? ------------- Zabaleta -------------------Romero----------------------- For the first question mark, I would like to eventually have a passer, a midfield general, maybe Ruben Botta if he starts playing well for Inter. I don't know who Di Michelis' replacement will be, but we need to start grooming someone for Copa 2015. Messi as the CF. I know it does not mean much, but would love us to still beat Germany in Germany, again. We have some good options, if players regain their form: Pastore, hopefully at Atletic Madrid Iturbe, at Roma Lamela, at Spurs Botta and Alvarez, at Inter Pereyra, at Juventus I would love us to go back to a technical midfield, where we dominate the ball and not cede the midfield to anyone. Then let Messi do his thing at CF.
Flaco, is making a bit over 4.2ME per season. 4th highest player on PSG. I know Atlético Madrid made quite a bit money for the players they sold over this summer, but they were something around 370 million in debt. They gotta cut their costs, I know they got CL runner-up money, the sale of the Costa and Luis but Flaco would have to take a nice cut. Does he want to sit around collect his money and live in Paris(Not a bad life, ay?) or does want to make a name for himself. He can be a very useful player if deployed properly.
Internazionale are looking to ship out Alvarez. And the rumour mill says that Monaco will move for Icardi to replace James Rodriguez which sounds implausible to me. Bielsa is not only looking at Aimar but also Ocampos. Facundo Ferreyra will probably seek a move away from Shaktar Donetsk who will now have to play in Lvov. A middle ranking side in Spain or Italy would be the perfect place for him to carry on developing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28399320 Pastore to Atletico in tandem with Koke would be great news. No one else has instilled the necessary tactical discipline in him or consistency. Cholo I am sure could. Our two Argentines even though they have played for Italy now at u21 level showed their true colours on our teams pre-season trip to Austria as they watched the games against Belgium, Holland and the final. Amazing to think Iturbe could have joined us last season. Thank goodness he did not as it is much better for his development.
There are several candidates for the centre back berth. Musacchio is high on that list. Lisandro Lopez I am sure will develop like Garay did at Benfica. Plus he is a huge danger at setpieces. However Rojo could quite comfortably slip in alongside Garay and perform the 6 role. This would allow Ansaldi/Garcia/Zabaleta to revert to leftback and Peruzzi to come in as right back. Peruzzi would do well to avoid Arsenal as well if he is going to have to sit behind Debuchy who is pretty average.
Seems like the Humberto Grondona rumors could turn out to be true! Sabella could be on his way out and Julio doesnt seem to like Martino but its a weird situation since Martino turned everyone down waiting for this call so did he not have Julio's word? Idk but we need a proper coach otherwise its 2010 all over again. As far as Pastore goes, Atleti were trying to get Alvarez but Inter wanted alot of money for him so now theyre looking at Pastore. I doubt they get any of them.
Article is stating, Ramon Diaz is interested in the national team position if Sabella steps down, according to a rep.
Ramon Diaz would be my dream but almost everyone is saying that Humberto is set to be interim if Sabella steps down. Idk what Diaz relationship with AFA is
Maybe we can field some younger players and would be funny if we win that game and they shows Pipita how it should be done.
Are you guys bothered from the fact that we haven't had a proper midfield in 5 years? Our last real midfield was 2007 Copa America - Riquelme - Messi - Mascherano and then in 2008. We've essentially just played with wingers and strikers since then. I argued with a member of my family that mentions"you can not get it anywhere, you need a special player." I think that argument is dumb. A good midfield can consist of 2-4 players that act as possessive, passing and attacking. In 2006 our midefield was Riquelme, Sorin, Aimar, Messi, Cambiasso-- and some other guys whom I can't remember (Did Mascherano play in 2006?) . That 2006 teams on paper made the German 2010 team look weak. It was so deep.
It is all based on the style of play by the manager. We didn't need a proper attacking MF during qualifiers and had we put our chances away, this would be a non-issue, but I get it, when you lose, you have to go back and try to review what could've made the difference. Right after Diego's tenure was over, Batista brought back D'Alessandro and we tried to play that old traditional way. Hell, Batista's great idea of trying to playing FCB. After that failure, Sabella came in, did call Pastore back, but i don't believe he was a starter, and didn't fit into his plans. I am all for seeing a new system if and when Sabella leaves. How and who would you like to see play in the MF? Just curious to see those players from MF to striker role you'd like to see. And yes, Masche played in 2006.
Messi scored like 2 goals during his tenure vs 26 goals under Sabella and Sabella's team only lost 3 times in compeitive match and the biggest defeat was by one goal margin, not 6-1 or 4-0
Ive seen Pereyra and Lamela link up beautifully in midfield over and over again. They have those deadly 1-2 passes and seem to understand eachother very well but does Pereyra defend well? Thats the big Q because if he doesnt improve his D it will be very hard for any coach to field a midfield with 2 players that dont defend very well
One thing that we learnt from 2014 WC , good defence = great run in major tournament. Even with dull attack you can be finalist or even a champion with soild defence. This 2014 Argentina , 2010 Spain or 2006 Italy... just compare those to that brainless attacking team of Diego.
Tbh, i thought Sabella made a mistake not taking Yacob as Gago's backup. I think he can provide the same defense that Biglia provides with the passing that Gago provides and he did have a great season this yr. I love Sabella but his bench picks were terrible
