He had some of the best players in history playing with him all of whom particularly Garrincha an early version of Messi who get forgotten. Pele had a great PR machine too.
Lol.. I was thinking more he's tired of Chiqui Mafia in particular. Maybe he likes the idea of coaching a new generation even if he won't play some of them now.
Any manager worth their salt would love to coach this 2030 team. Sure we will lose Messi this time (but you never know) but the talent factory is producing on overload at the moment. You'll have your core with Romero, Enzo and Julian still and all these youngsters to develop over the next 3-4 years. Escobar at left back, several talented CBs, 3-4 talented central and attacking mids and we'll see how the new crop of strikers develop. More than likely we will see 3-4 of these pibes start to explode over the next few years. Keeping wise you'll still have Dibu but it's imperative a couple of the younger kids step up as well.
I would have taken him as the third. Just for the experience. Although didn't he come in to the pre WC training squad.
Yeah, I think he was even with them til right before the Austria game.. he stayed longer than the other excluded players like Giay and Capaldo, who unlike Santi I don’t believe shared the vestuario with the boys during the actual WC. Scaloni clearly has plans for him post-Dibu and has already begun integrating him into the group despite not being on the official tournament roster. I’m pretty sure right after the WC he’ll become a regular call-up as a back-up
Valentin Carboni extends his loan with Racing for another year. It will be interesting to see how he recovers. I know Scaloni was extremely fond of him and had him as one of the flags of the “new generation”, but these injuries change players/careers
Argentina set to play entire CONMEBOL WCQs despite having already qualified for 2030: https://bolavip.com/ar/seleccion/pe...argentina-igualmente-jugara-las-eliminatorias CONMEBOL will only get 3.5 slots since Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay are already in (nice little move by conman Dominguez to get his team qualified, btw)… I wonder who will go? Maybe Ecuador, Colombia, Peru/Chile? and then maybe Brazil gets the playoff spot?
It would be great if we can just set up friendlies with Spain, Portugal and Morocco for a change. Not to mention, imagine if the brazucas finish like fourth… unlikely but still!
So does that mean other teams will still be compared by how many points they earn against us? Or do they not count at all?
My understanding is ALL points count, just that Arg/Uru/Par won’t take up slots. In other words, if those three finish in the top 3 spots, places #4-6 would qualify and #7 would go to playoffs, and so forth. In other words the points/table won’t be affected in any way
It's interesting. Basically gives us the chance to affect who gets in lol. Play hard against Brazil, and let others beat us to pass them haha
Looks like River and Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement for Almada: €20,000,000 for 50% of the transfer (ironically more than what we received for Julian Alvarez’s full transfer) The player wants to wait til after the World Cup to see if he receives any other offers (Europe remains his priority), but it seems if nothing else comes through he’ll be returning to Argentina in August. He’s in a weird position because his transfer value is too high for second-tier European teams, while the top-European teams can afford him but have no interest. I’m surprised the Brazilians haven’t gotten involved: typically Flamengo loves these type of players who fail across the pond We’ll see..
Rather see Meza and Lencina given the time to develop than this and spend the money on more youth. Arambarri as well another washed up overseas player......
If we did a weighting of opponents for Cristina in internatonal football Messi would be even further ahead. Cristina has scored against the might of Luxembourg, the Faeroe Islands, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Andorra,
Fulham....A very bad idea. Send him to Bologna or Atalanta where they develop younger players. Or Como indeed although him and Paz in the same side might be problematic. Juventus.....don't like the club at all.
