It's bad enough Lo Celso is there. Imagine being Maximo Perrone. Or Emiliano Buendia. Or Marcos Senesi at this moment.

Scaloni needs the cojones to make the right choices not for the friends club but for the seleccion and it's supporters some of whom are making immense sacrifices to be there to support some of these prima donnas.

We were lucky not to eat a goal on some lazy ass defending. But Colo gets a good strike in to make it 1-0.

 

Scrappy goal but who cares.

We;re lacking creativity. Too much gap between players, cant really build any attacking move.

 

Barco could end up starting. He's been the best place on the pitch.

 

Crazy how packed the stadium is.. never would've expected it in Alabama of all places. This is probably giving Tapia all sorts of ideas lol

 

I’m not sure why we are just sitting back and letting Iceland dominate the ball. Are we working on our defense or is another excuse where somebody will say “The field was wet, the players did not want to take chances…”? It’s a very lackluster game. We’re just passing backwards with very little build-up.

 

Pathetic attempt from Giu. Barco with great pass for Nico G, but goalie made good save.

 

It doesn’t seem like any of our players other than Colo knows how to pass the ball forward. It’s running forward and passing it backwards.

 

We played against Iceland like how we played them in 2018. Sideways and backward passing all day.

Rulli and Ota made a great save and clearence but other than that Barco is the only one who did something notable. I forgot Lo Celso is still on the pitch.

I'm sure the team has been instructed to conserve energy & avoid injury, but the lack of creativity is glarring.

I like flaco lopez. Skilled player with good holdup ability. Supposedly he can score too.

Barco easily best player of the half. Good passes, linkup play, covers his flank though his tackling not the greatest. The goal of course.

Medina, Giay are so limited. Make Tagliafico look like Sorin.

Simeone such a lovable donkey.

 

Problem with Simeone is, he can only beat defenders by outpacing them and he can only shoot straight to the goalie's direction, he cant aim the net like a proper forward do.

 

They all have become Exequiel.

 

Yes his finishing is so amateurish. No placement, power, effect. His goals come from crashing the box, running on to quick passes or loose balls.

 

Matches will be paid in hot, humid conditions. Some KO matched likely go to extra time. We are not young, we don't have runners, and are not in the best condition with 5-7 key players coming in with niggling injuries. Scaloni prioritizing ball control and extreme patience is boring as hell but correct.

 

Everytime we reached the box, we just wait wait and then made an extra passes. Great job. Just shoot, it could pass between goalie's leg or bounce to our player for tap in.

 

Damn.. that should've been 2-0.
