He almost scored 3 times, I think its just one of those days where we couldnt put the ball in despite countless chances we created. Their goalie was also having an outstanding game.

Yea its far from our best game but lets not act as if we didnt create chances. One of Paz shot was aftrr he won the ball himself in midfield.

What happened to experimenting? To giving youngsters? Paz was very positive and I give Scaloni that but its not good enough. What’s even the point of friendly matches if Scaloni’s just going to run the 2022 lineup on autopilot?

It’s honestly underwhelming. Feels like we’re hiding behind easy wins instead of addressing the obvious issues. I’d rather see us lose to stronger teams now and figure things out before 2026, than cruise through meaningless games and get exposed when it actually matters.

At this rate, our 2026 squad is basically going to be the same as 2022, just without Di María.

    Scaloni’s master plan seems to be: Ctrl + C (2022) → Ctrl + V (2026)

What was the actual crowd, from those pictures it looks more like one of those practice games that is played behind closed doors.

I am getting to the point where I find the Sub teams more interesting than the senior side. It takes me back to the 2000s where I could not wait for the old guard to step down so we could move forward.

After Qatar, there was a discussion asking was Scaloni more like Menotti or Bilardo... I believe it was said that he was in-between. But currently? He is way closer to Bilardo.

Just zero conviction from this side where they are going through the motions and playing some boring ass futbol....

If Scaloni is not showing his hand, great, that is a good way to play. But give us something to be excited about.

    But anyways, Paz v Venezuela.

One thing I learned about the evolution of forums, no point in writing long analysis anymore because no one cares or reads it.

I suppose that has to do with how inundated everyone is with socia media

People even write their thoughts here and it's just "thank you" I agree with you.

Just thoughts, no critize anyone, just observations

It’s why I’m here I want to hear about peoples thoughts on Argentina and football in general. The more effort someone puts on here the more I appreciate it. I post on another forum and tons of people write long paragraphs

The opponent is so weak that I consider this friendly completely meaningless, even for the new guys. Just play Messi and let him score 4 so he can pad the stats,

I'm getting tired of the senior team, specifically the "old guard", the famous, "club de amigos" from 2014 to 2018 looks like nothing to this.
Paredes who should have been at Russo's funeral, Messi not playing because he had an "important" match with his team while the rest of the teams in argentina had to realease their players, De Paul protesting in meaningless games, and on top of all that the friendly sh*t with Tapia, the guy ruining argentinian football and moving the NT to Miami, always playing against minor teams just because the revenue, overpricing the games in Argentina and when something important happens related to argentinian football he is never there, at least of course is the senior team, really really tired.
I hope something happens and many of them can't play the WC next year

European big team regularly play againts team like that in qualifier. Portugal facing team like Liechtenstein in Euro qualifier, that team ranked 199th in fifa ranking compare to Puerto Rico 155th.

I agree. The only thing that I agree with the post is Tapia scheduling random minor team for friendlies.

This is probably the reason why the players themselves look 1 pace slower/uninterested in these matches.

If there were something at stake (for the WCQ this year, we already qualified so the motivation couldn't be that high compared to the opposition), and the players had this kind of performances, then that's the time when I would be worried.

I think the problem is that we haven’t looked all that great. We weren’t great at the CA and for the qualifiers, I haven’t been overly convinced.

And I do have to agree with some of the posters where it is becoming more of a club of friends than what should be out there.

All Scaloni had to to do was tell the likes of Otamendi, Paredes, De Paul and a few others that “I won’t call you for the rest of the year because I want to experiment.” And to be fair, Scaloni does not even have to say why, it could be out of respect or common curtesy. If you want to give them a break or if they are gonna coast in a game then what is the point of calling them up? I think the players that we have who are consistently being called up are too comfortably. No matter how sorry they are at the club level, they are being called up.

At the latest, the rebuild should’ve happened after the CA. It would’ve given us 2 years.

I think for the CA, imo it was mostly due to the pitch condition which was horrible so I gave that tournament a pass. For our style of play, where we play mostly with linkups and passes, we more or less rely on the condition of the pitch more than other nations do playing long balls and crosses. Do agree that the CA was the perfect time to do the renovation. There was no reason for the likes of Pezzella and Guido to be in the squad at the time and we blew it. Senesi and Soule should have been there imo. On the other hand to Scaloni, he did started Lisandro ahead of Otamendi in the CA and RDP was in ok form and Paredes was a bench player.

Before 2025 for the qualifiers, I do agree, I feel we've been going through the motions. But I also do wonder how much impact there was that of the change of format where 7 teams out of 10 qualify instead of 4 teams that qualify. There was not much stake into the WCQ where we probably didn't need to be 100% to win the games.

Scaloni should have experimented more and should have been a lot harsher I feel like (especially with Molina when it was clear as day that he was going to be a bench player for ATM this season), but the situation is not as bad as some posters saying that we are going to crumble like Spain 2014. There's some truths in both sides I feel.

Looks like the Finalissima will be set up in March 2026. I think that game will tell us a lot of how prepared we are into the World Cup.

Yeah this whole situation has been really weird. Obviously when you want to integrate youth you don't do it all at once, you need to put them in situations where they can succeed and see how they do with the veteran players they will have to play with if they're going to play in a real tournament. But it's been way too slow and without much logic or meritocracy. I think Scaloni wants to keep everyone happy but if you message it the right way like SupaMario says it shouldn't be too controversial.I get it, a big part of the trophies has been the vibes in the locker room and finally breaking past the mental block of the immense pressure that had been on their shoulders, however the flip side of that is being complacent and not feeling any pressure to maintain your form at all.

Yeah, I think this is an absolute fair assessment of the current situation.

The situation is not bad, but not that great either.

Also, I knew things will change. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we don't even play at Angola and just play in Miami in November to which I'm not opposed to at all.

Just a note about the Finalissima... I am telling you right now, if we go into that game and we lose, and let's say we lose 3-1... It is going to absolutely spook this group. They haven't experienced defeat yet or at least in that manner. It could hurt their confidence and it could also make Scaloni doubt his call-ups but it would be a bit too late, no?

I would cancel this match. If we are going to play the Gallegos, I think it should be at the Mundial.

I don't think their confidence is that fragile. It's pretty easy to write off as not being a real match or whatever. They lost 4 matches in the qualifying campaign, something that really counted, and didn't even flinch. It could be a wake up call just like the Saudi loss.
