Of course we will play Mexico and Honduras.

But if it's in Vegas, I may be tempted to go.

I do wonder if this means if we will be placed out here on the West Coast...

Damn, you stop that right now, Julian. Right foot, left foot, it does not matter.

Julian third goal was Messi trademark goal. Curling left foot shot from distance.

Two goals and an assist for Messi tonight. More proof he shouldn't be starting for Argentina

Wait till he scores at WC against Mexico and somebody would say, but he havent do it against Slovakia and Norway :whistling:

Anyway, I just stumbled upon Balon D'or article and it mentioned that Messi actually has the most goal contribution in 2025 so far (43 G+ A) and that without even counting his 3 goals contribution today. His MLS scoring ratio this season is above 1.0

Yea its MLS, but like I said... what if we put anyone else in his position at Miami... can they even get half of that tally?

Man, Armani is a walking disaster. We would have had ZERO chance of winning any trophy with him behind the pipes. How this guy still plays professionally will never cease to amaze me...

The only reason he's on Scaloni's squad for 5 years. A save that actually began Scaloni's golden era, somehow.

Sadly, the Brasileiro has been better than Primera for years. Acuna once again showed his bonehead attitude. As if what he did at CWC wasnt bad enough.

Yeah he shouldn't, he lost most of his duels against Venezuela, a Venezuela who lost 6-3 to Colombia at home.
I'm not gonna say that Messi is doing good with Argentina because he is Messi, If I think that he is not playing well and shouldn't start I'm gonna say it, I want Argentina to win, not Messi.

Didn't Messi scored 2 goals against Venezuela? lol

Messi has to start for Argentina. End of discussion.

We beat their ass 3-0 at Lapaz. Even Tagliafico scored with his shoulder. Vivi.jr played in La liga for RM and couldnt do jacksh#t in WC qualifier. Messi is the top scorer there yet you keep finding excuses lol

In your mind, maybe if someone else play for us in this qualifier, he'd get 15 goals instead of 8.

Do I think Messi needs to play all the time? no, he should be subbed off if we're 3-0 up and dominating and definetely should rest in 3rd group game if we win the first two. He certainly dont need to play the next two friendlies. You cant replace his shooting and defense splitting pass ability.

To be honest though, while Messi clearly has an extra gear for important games, seeing him accelerating so fast to reached the throughball kind of worrying lol

Baja un cambio que te estoy hablando bien. All what I said is that he is not playing well for Argentina. If you think I'm wrong good, but you don't need to be agressive.

Well I think he should be a sub for the last 30mins, because I don't see him doing well against tough rivals

Messi still has an x-factor about him and he will start. However, he did not look great in the CA. It was probably his worst performance in a tournament ever. Also we looked better once he was subbed off v Colombia and some of our better showings in the qualifiers was when he was out.

I think that is a fair* statement.

What are we even talking about here? Messi is a starter. As long as Scaloni deems it worthy.

Even if Messi doesn’t sprint like he did in 2011, his football IQ is still two galaxies ahead of everyone else. His vision, passing, and calmness on the ball make Argentina better the second he steps onto the pitch. Losing a bit of defense is nothing compared to the magic he creates. I’ll happily watch him walk for 89 minutes if it means one pass cuts open Brazil like a churrasco knife through picanha.

And let’s be honest: when Messi plays, every European backline starts shaking like France in the 123rd minute in Lusail. You just know something’s coming. He sees passes that no one else does; go ask Josko Gvardiol.

Now, about minutes, that’s Scaloni’s call. He’s earned that right. Copa América, Finalissima, World Cup… the man turned Argentina from a telenovela into a Dynasty. I sound like I’m narrating North Korean state TV when I talk about Scaloni, but the truth is, he has enough credit to walk into Maracanã, take Neymar’s VIP box seat, and nobody could say a word.

So yeah, Messi starts. Scaloni decides the rest. Europe can whine about “aging Messi” all they want, we’ll just keep raising trophies.

    Great post.

He also looks much sharper and lighter this year compared to the past few years.

At one point we thought gallardo could be a good coach for the National Team, he's no longer a candidate

And how armani continues to bullshit his way in the eyes of professional players and fans, like fans calling him a legend

The guy has more rust in his arm joints than a 85 year old tin man

With a corrup,t paraguyian, conmebol president who seems to be silent on Argentina's fans violence with brazilian police everytime, decisions and fines that go against Argentine clubs. It seems we have one president, a paraguiyan, who fits all the narratives of stereotypical Argentine discrimination. That and he runs the entire organization (conmebol) like ass: see copa america and the final.

With an AFA president, that somehow ignores the league but is happy taking pictures with messi and success on his birthday in Miami, and ignores everything that's club football, but probably is secrently funding his Barraccas central. Someone who pissed off Scaloni, a president, with a alfalfa chiken crew hair cut - dont expect much from this jelly roll

With a Fifa president who seems to enjoy ruining all the legacies of FIFA, see Saudi Arabia fund investments to the Club World Cup TV rights, the world cup bid and appeasing other nations with more spots in the world cup with the excuse of allowing other teams to compete to get better. But really we know this is to get money from every region possible so you have to scratch everyones back.

I guess football is kinda of cooked these days

I suppose UEFA and Europe have it just as bad. They have a qatari business man sleezing his way into European football affairs always showing his face. But it's the French, they bend over backwards for everything. Their own country, their own citizens and even their own league

Maybe I should go back to NHL hockey
Oh wait, there's Gary Bettman there

Messi literally setup the first two goals in first CA match, he hit the post from distance in second game and then Chile pulled their dirty trick and injured him deliberately. He was never the same for remainder of the tournament. You could see him rubbing his thigh all the time, including during the shootout against Ecuador.

The difference between younger and older Messi is quite significant....

I mean the difference between Enzo Perez and Julian Alvarez is really significant.

As already been mentioned before, Jabba pretty much hit a jackpot when he picked Scaloni. The guy is clearly an attention whore.

This is getting close to pre Saballa days where there were calls to drop Messi.... A bad and injury riddled tournament in the last copa does erase the fact that he's friggen Lionel Messi. He's still the best player on the team and honestly the best player in the world despite not having the legs to do it week in and out.

. . . why has nobody brought up Jose Manuel Lopez to be called up by Scaloni? I mean, before Mexico and Italy offer him citizenship . . .
