Messi is still the best dribbler in the world. Have never seen anyone glide by defenders with such ease.

Sorry man but these highlights actually got me a bit worried. Now I really believe that Messi should not be a starter in the NT

Messi knows how to pace himself during the game and would only explodes when he sense that its the right time to do it. There's a reason why he's the conmebol WC qualifier top scorer.

I wish that when 2026 comes he shuts my a*s, but he's been performing poorly with the NT since the Copa América. I can't see him playing well against tough opponents in the WC.

In European qualifier most of big teams only face one tough opponent in their respective group. Haaland scored 8 of his 9 goals against Israel, Estonia and the mightly Moldova. England group includes WC top favorites such as Albania, Serbia, Latvia, and Andorra. By that logic, none of great players there are actually tested.

Secondly, Vini.jr only scores a mere two goals throughout 2026 qualifier. Does that mean he's only quarter as good as 38 year old Messi?

It honestly all comes down to his health. When he's in good shape and rhythm from being able to play regularly he can still give us those next level flashes that no one else in the world can bring. If he's not in that mode though he becomes a bit more human and more of a set play and assist guy only, which can still be useful but won't be as impactful against the peak teams.

I don't know what Haaland or Vinicius (personally never liked Vinicius as a player, especially with Brazil) have to do with Messi performing poorly for Argentina. The guy is 38 and will turn 39 during the WC, is logical he doesn't have the same level anymore.

Bournemouth are 3rd in the Premier League and AS Roma are 4th in the Serie A and Senesi and Soule have been integral to their respective team. Scaloni has to call them up in October.

From what I've seen from Leverkeusen so far, Equi has been settling in and I'm sure he will be an integral part of the team.

Can't say how Equi played today, but both in his debut and the CL in midweek he was at best average. Nothing impressive whatsoever.

It is strange that both Soulé and Senesi have a combined 1 game in total for the senior side. Senesi has a winners medal from the Finalissima and only played in a friendly. And we have talked about Mati extensively. I do wonder what Scaloni is seeing or not seeing in practice when he has called up these players.

Since he was red carded last week he did not play. And he was one of our best players at the Olympics, perhaps our best. Give him, he’ll settle in. Too good not to succeed.

    And an assist by Paz.

Sure and I know he play in MLS, but lets put anyone else from our team in this Miami team , do you think that player could get 30 goals + 10 assists in 37 games?

No matter how you spin it, I couldnt find any other players in history that could score from outside the box as casual as Messi does, even at 38.

Equi didn't play today as he was suspended (ref was yellow card happy have to say). I'd say give him time. He's in a new country in less than 1 month and working with a brand new coach himself.

Why watch actual matches and evaluate performance, when you can simply write off by watching highlights and based on the fact that a player is in the MLS? It's so much easier that way.

I’ve been thinking who will wear the #10 after Messi. I was thinking maybe Mac in the short term..But in the long term there will be a real debate between Paz and Mastantuono. I think Masta will get the nod because of being more connected to back home. But when was the last time a Gallina repped the 10 for us? Burrito?

I honestly think Masta will get the #10 and Paz with the #8, similar to how Ronaldinho was the #10 and Paz is the #8. Paz reminds me of Kaka frequently to the point where I want Paz to wear the #22 but that Lautaro's number lol

It's been reported that Paz will be brought back to RM after the WC26 so will be interested to see how Paz and Masta play together if they do play together.

I do not think Paz is going to go back if he is not going to be a regular. He is not going to go and rot on the bench. As much as I'd like to see Paz and Mastantuono playing together, I want Paz to be a regular wherever he goes. He will want guarantees. If not then I think he will ask to be sold sold-off to an EPL team.

Madrid will have to decide if they want to keep Arda or Paz.

Last time a Gallina repped the NT #10? Messi, as you often point out :D

    ————

But really the last one was probably Aimar or D’Alessandro. To be fair though, how many others have donned the 10 since Messi came on the scene? The only ones I can think of outside of Riquelme are Aguero, Pastore, and Angel Correa on a few occasions. I think Banega wore it once or twice too?

But yeah, Masta seems destined for the albiceleste #10 and already became the youngest to ever wear it, taking the title from Maradona in the match vs Ecuador

Well, I tend to poke fun at some of the gallinas who believe that Messi is secretly a River fan.

You're right, I blanked on Aimar and Mandrake.

After Diego, Cholo wore it a few times, I believe Gallardo as well.

    How time flies.

Lol, you sound like one of those modern pundits, because everything is all about clickbait will scream "why Haaland is rubbish and possibly the worst striker in the world" or "why Xavi was the worst midfield player in history". No doubt if Messi scored a hundred goals in his next 10 games you will say "why Messi should never be allowed to play again, and this should be enforced by law". :D:D

He sounds like one of those pundits who'd say something like ... Messi hasnt score againts Chelsea , hasnt win senior trophy with NT, hasnt score at WC KO stage, hasnt score againts strong side at major tournament, hasnt score pass a certain GK . If Messi scored from FK or close range , he'd say Messi isnt good enough anymore run pass opponents:D

    I remember those days vividly:D

While I have high expectation on him, he has yet to surpass youth version of Kun, Saviola and Tevez .
