It's an interesting insight and I agree that refereeing has tightened up on tactical fouling, and outright fouling for sure. I think the biggest influence to the modern changes, and when I say modern I mean more like the last 15 years, is the need for speed and how this has trumped other skill development. I remember the CL game between Inter and Tottenham where a young Gareth Bale owned Maicon the whole game by just pushing the ball past him and sprinting. For me the trend towards prioritizing speed started growing at and around this point. Not saying it was strictly because of Bale but I remember the English pundits drooling over it. Tonight's probable starting 11 Martinez; Molina, Balerdi, Otamendi, Tagliafico; Gonzalez, De Paul, Mac Allister, Almada; Martinez, Alvarez Would like to see Nico in to be honest.
Early in Tyc Sports the lineup they put was Dibu; Tagliafico, Otamendi, Balerdi, Montiel; Nico Gonzalez, Paredes, De Paul, Simeone/Alvarez; Almada/Alvarez, Lautaro Martinez
I love Scaloni, but at this point I do not think Scaloni will try anything new till the World Cup - unless circumstances change his hand.
I think it's a case of Scaloni having something like 95% of his picture complete in his mind, while us fans may think it's more wide open than that.
Very uninspiring selection with the group won. Perfect time to test some fullbacks even try Lopez upfront. Bernabei, Soler at LB Maffeo at RB. Also Senesi would have been perfect for CB after his excellent start this season. That is our weak area the fullback options and our keepers in the next 2 years need working on.
Otamendi nor Balerdi have covered themselves in glory early on. I miss Lisandro bad. Simeone can be doing that stupid shit.
Hallo again SM. Mum has been poorly unfortunately had a nasty fall in the Spring not great at her age. Slow recovery. Modifying the house so she can live with us & get about easily.
Thuggish play again from Plata. Paredes could easily have had broken a bone in his foot thanks to the stamp on it. Very sore.
Red for Ota. Poor from Balerdi. Poor from Ota as well Emi was coming out to claim kick the ball away.
That was extremely poor from Balerdi, expected much more from him. Otamendi should be suspended until the end of the WC.
Foyt for Nico G surely. The spine of this side is Emi-Romero-De Paul-Messi Emi is not in the best form and when Romero is absent I am concerned. Ota's performance without Cristian declines. We have to find a CB to replace Otamendi. Senesi should have been in by now. We could be carrying Otamendi into next summer.
Balerdi has looked dogpiss all game. Slow, clumsy and been bullied by Valencia. Even though it’s shit by Ota, that sending off is Balerdi’s fault.
