It's not about weight, it is about having strength on the ball. Claudio can get bullied off the ball easily, that is the issue. His physique is that of a young teenager. I like players like him and Colo have that problem. Immensely talented on the ball but it does not take much to get them off of it.
🗣 Alexis Mac Allister on Lionel Messi potentially playing at the 2026 World Cup: "I hope so. I think so. There’s a year and a half left to go until the World Cup, and that’s nothing. He looks happy, and although I don’t know what will happen with his future, it seems like he’s… pic.twitter.com/VqUKsBvvmI— Roy Nemer (@RoyNemer) December 10, 2024
🚨 Confirmed that River Plate's Monumental stadium in Argentina will be one of the host stadiums for the 2030 World Cup. 🇦🇷 pic.twitter.com/ixPVEUTi3u— Roy Nemer (@RoyNemer) December 11, 2024
2034, 10 years away... Who the hell is looking that far ahead? But anyways, they're saying this one MIGHT be in early 2034 like Jan or Feb... The reasoning is that is Ramadan will be from mid Nov until December of 2034. Not sure how this is an issue for non-Muslims... The entire 2030 one is stupid as hell. We play one game, at home, fly across the Atlantic to play the rest of our matches? Why not just let us play all of our group games or scrap the idea of eve playing one game in Argentina. What a stupid ass idea. And it certainly looks like no South American side will EVER host an entire World Cup again. 2038 might in Australia co-hosted with some Asian country or countries. 2042 will surely be back exclusively in Europe, probably France or Italy or another giant joint tournament. I guess a lot of us were lucky enough to see the best World Cups, with 32 teams and one nation hosting. Not to mention, we won the last "Traditional" Mundial.
Happened to be in Madrid and went to see Atlético vs the Slovakia team live. De Paul played a great match. He's the de facto captain as he is with Argentina. Bossed the match. Looks sharp. Julian played well. Golazo, the key in the third goal, good play overall. But he did miss 2 very good chances. Giu Cholito barely visible. Little play down his way and a few poor touches. A nice moment to set up the 2nd goal. Great to see some of our guys live!
the 2030 WC is nothing but a huge FU3K!n6 joke and a pay off to the Saudis. FIFA took care of 3 continental federations in one WC so that they could free it up for 2034. They don't even care that the corruption is out in the open. They don't even care.
Man City went from being the top club in the world to very mediocre. Losing Julian hurt but it's more than that. Shoes how fine the margins are.
It's always been about money. That's why most WCs have been in Europe. The mideast is investing in football. Qatar got a cup and now Saudi Arabia. What is the difference? Is your contention that it should be hosted in countries which are highest ranked? Or should it be by population?
Atletico has won 10 consecutive games. Great to see our players thriving, Molina didnt play though. Julian always does well in CL. He has scored 12 goals in 23 CL games since moving to Europe.
There is no difference between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. They still need to build stadiums in Saudi Arabia and they’re going use the same contracting companies that build those stadiums in Qatar. World Cups should be hosted by nations where the infrastructure is already there. It wasn’t in Qatar and it still isn’t in Saudi Arabia. All of this money they’re throwing around to footballers is just a facade to show “Hey, look at us! We are investing in football!” Not to mention the human right issues. And before 78 is brought up, we shouldn’t have hosted 78 either.
Infrastructure is always built before these big sporting events. If a country that doesn't have the stadiums, etc but wants to build it why shouldn't they? Every time there's a big hubbub about what a disaster preparations are and it always turns out fine (eg. South Africa, Brazil, Qatar). Human rights? Lol. If that was the issue, America would never be allowed to host an event. My guess is that the anti-Saudi talk is typical anti Arab/Muslim propaganda coming from zioamerican media. Absolutely nothing wrong with Saudi hosting the WC and luring players with money in order to strengthen their league.
The US may have many flaws but I don’t have to worry about getting thrown in prison for voicing my opinion about opposing views of the government. Try that in a place like Saudi Arabia. I guess we can sweep the issues of people dying building the stadiums in Qatar who were also living in horrid conditions. That’s going to continue in Saudi Arabia. Many of us were against Russia having the World Cup as well. So this “anti Muslim/Arab” is nonsense.
If you want to talk about world cup and those other relations, I'm sure you can open a thread in another forum and talk about it. A discussion that has been going on for decades. Much like we opened up another thread for retro discussion of Argentina. Let's keep this strickly argentina news.
Nah, we’re not going to open a thread about such things. The general forum already has one. But we tend to generally talk about these type of things every now and then, Broseph Stalin. They tend to quickly end since they never escalate and this one is pretty much done and won’t continue, at least on my end. But these topics are more exciting than discussing who had a better season in 2001 Aimar or Veron.
Sorry but that's just silly way of looking at things since the fans and footballers has nothing to do with those things . Stuff you're wearing such as Adidas, Nike jerseys and shoes are made by using forced labour .. so you're gonna complain about it aswell? Riquelme won Apertura and Libertadores that season
nah, I just did the same thing he kept nagging me about for a year. I really don't care. U guys just mad.
I am wondering if this has even been brought up... Since in 2030, ourselves, Uruguay and Paraguay will get an automatic ticket... Does that mean the rest of the federation also go outside of 1.5 teams? Currently, six automatically go and the 7th place team will play in the playoff... And will we even play qualifiers?
I would assume it just means less spots up for grabs. For 2026, CONCACAF was already allocated 6.5 spots, but with USA/CAN/MEX as hosts, there's now only 3.5 spots to be fought over in qualifying. With 3 slots taken for hosts, CONMEBOL qualifying should then be fought over 3.5 spots as well. (.5 indicating intercontinental playoff) Edit: Looks like CONCACAF gets an extra playoff spot for 2026 as the host confederation. So CONMEBOL will probably get two playoff spots as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification#Inter-confederation_play-offs
This is quite insane. Messi has not double but triple the G/A in knockout matches for us as the next ones on the list!
Messi has played in like 12 tournaments. 06 World Cup 07 Copa 10- World Cup 11- Copa 14- WC 15-CA 16-CA 18-World Cup 19-CA 21-CA 22 World Cup 24 Copa JRR did 10 in 3. 05 Confederations Cup 06 World Cup 07 Copa I mean, even if you throw out 06 for Messi, Roman has a more impressive stat line per tournament. Unless I’m missing a tournament he played that can’t recall. Lol at Fatso and Tevez being on that list. It tells you how certain stats are worthless(No shot at you but just in general). And look at ADM, he’s at level with those two bums.
Stats like that can be boosted by few good performance. Tevez has same exact goal ratio as Nico in national team, and Nico is a winger lol. Tevez had 2 goals + 1 assist in CA 2004 (his best senior tournament performance) and then a brace against Mexico in 2010. Higuain scored in 2015 semi, the last goal in 6-1 victory, 2 goals against US in 2016 semi after we already up 2-0. Few meaningless goals like that can simply boost your stats.
