Was garnacho born in Argentina, does he have argentinian parents (ok one), did he grow up in Argentina, does he speak argentinian castellano, does he know what an alfajor is, did he develop in an argentinian club, did he play in an argentinian league? He's not an Argentinian footballer. If national football means anything, this is obvious.

Higuaín clearly argentinian, Trezeguet could be considered as well. Don't know about the others. Are any of their ties to the national team they play as ridiculously tenuous as garnachos?

 

Judging by the comments, it looks like he was awful again. From what I’m reading, he does not make the right pass or refuses to pass the ball in important moments. I think it’s that old saying, I trust the eye test instead of stats. He’s doing well statistically but he’s yet struggling in areas where he’s supposed to be doing more.

B. Use the fact you have drawn 2 defenders to you to execute a simple pass to Hojlund who is free and in a great place to score.

C. Dummy the shot turn onto to your left take a step then shoot again a higher chance of scoring than A but less than B because of the angle.

I'd have di Maria coach him and also let Angelito tell him there should be as much joy in creating a goal than scoring. His ego is a real issue for me.

The point B, he did made simple pass to Dybala to score. He just need to be more consistent in making the right decision in that kind of situation.

Garnacho’s connection is through a parent. It would be something else if it was some great-grandma who got on some boat and made it over. That’s a different dynamic. I would have a problem with that. Pretty much all of our Euro Pibes are tied in with their parent.

 

If Scaloni is thinking of using a front three of Alvarez, Lautaro and Messi, he needs to do 1 of 2 options imo.

Option 1 - Play an attacking left fullback. Tagliafico is a defensive fullback and Alvarez needs an attacking fullback like a Molina. Barco/Soler and Alvarez would be a great combination. Barco/Soler will be able to own the left wing that allows Alvarez to cut in more often.

Option 2 - Have Lo Celso instead of MacA. Lo Celso is more comfortable drifting to the left side than MacAllister and Lo Celso and Alvarez can interchange position. It also helps that Lo Celso is left footed so that he can cross comfortably

I guess the only question is what position he would play.

For ATM, he's playing as a RM and RWB. For that position, we are well covered. I think maybe the LW would be the best as he did play there for Alaves on loan. He would be the best replacement for Nico Gonzalez in the LW position as they bring very similar qualities and frustrations

 

Julian and RDP also had an assist, so did A.Correa . Lets see if Atletico can maintain their current form.

 

As someone who doesn’t have a European team and just roots for the Argentine players to shine, I’m all in on Atletico right now. They’ve ironically (Cholo) been so fun to watch lately.

 

Having a squad that gets along well with each other usually helps. They seems to have great atmosphere within the team this season. I'm never a fan of Cholo's style but about half of his team are Argentines so I definetely wants them to do well.
