Not really. Was garnacho born in Argentina, does he have argentinian parents (ok one), did he grow up in Argentina, does he speak argentinian castellano, does he know what an alfajor is, did he develop in an argentinian club, did he play in an argentinian league? He's not an Argentinian footballer. If national football means anything, this is obvious. Higuaín clearly argentinian, Trezeguet could be considered as well. Don't know about the others. Are any of their ties to the national team they play as ridiculously tenuous as garnachos?
Judging by the comments, it looks like he was awful again. From what I’m reading, he does not make the right pass or refuses to pass the ball in important moments. I think it’s that old saying, I trust the eye test instead of stats. He’s doing well statistically but he’s yet struggling in areas where he’s supposed to be doing more.
Maduro seems like hte type of guy who would hold the Argentina national team hostage against Milei. Yeah Venzuela is off limits.
Brighton are not happy with the loan much as Tottenham were not happy with the loan time there with Veliz. Veliz was unfortunate but Barco needs to look at his defensive game. He's still making the same positioning errors because of his desire to be up the pitch attacking. He still has not found the balance. He drifts and left that side vulnerable. He has the technical skills & speed but not the mind for being a fullback at the moment.
Some of the criticism is ridiculous. He's been at a club which is all over the place & still has no identity on the pitch. He's been overplayed. At the same time he does have flaws he needs to work on. Shooting, getting his head up, working on his close control & first touch, his acceleration technique & also to curb his ego & selfishness. They can all be sorted out with the right coaching. Last night a case in point in the box. Three options. A. Fire a shot at goal despite two defenders drawn to you & acting as blockers. Chance of scoring minimal. B. Use the fact you have drawn 2 defenders to you to execute a simple pass to Hojlund who is free and in a great place to score. C. Dummy the shot turn onto to your left take a step then shoot again a higher chance of scoring than A but less than B because of the angle. I'd have di Maria coach him and also let Angelito tell him there should be as much joy in creating a goal than scoring. His ego is a real issue for me.
Exactly. Enzo to large degree also affected by being in sinking ship. The point B, he did made simple pass to Dybala to score. He just need to be more consistent in making the right decision in that kind of situation.
I can't stand ESPN and ESPN uk, such tabloid garbage reporting and opinions. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/a0KojW35xzc
I believe Garna has talked about that he would visit Argentina quite a bit when he was a kid. I’m sure he knows what an alfajor is and etc. The rest of the seleccion said he was already putting an effort by trying to talk in lunfardo and whatnot. He’s also said this.. And has been supporting us since a kid. Garnacho’s connection is through a parent. It would be something else if it was some great-grandma who got on some boat and made it over. That’s a different dynamic. I would have a problem with that. Pretty much all of our Euro Pibes are tied in with their parent.
If Scaloni is thinking of using a front three of Alvarez, Lautaro and Messi, he needs to do 1 of 2 options imo. Option 1 - Play an attacking left fullback. Tagliafico is a defensive fullback and Alvarez needs an attacking fullback like a Molina. Barco/Soler and Alvarez would be a great combination. Barco/Soler will be able to own the left wing that allows Alvarez to cut in more often. On paper Alvarez----------Martinez----------Messi -----------MacA------------RDP --------------------Enzo Barco---Lisandro-------Romero----Molina When Attacking ---------------------Martinez Barco-----Alvarez------------Messi-------Molina ---------------MacA-----------RDP ---Lisandro----------Enzo--------Romero Option 2 - Have Lo Celso instead of MacA. Lo Celso is more comfortable drifting to the left side than MacAllister and Lo Celso and Alvarez can interchange position. It also helps that Lo Celso is left footed so that he can cross comfortably On paper Alvarez----------Martinez----------Messi -----------Lo Celso------------RDP -----------------------Enzo Lisandro---Senesi-----Romero----Molina When Attacking ---------------------Martinez Lo Celso-----Alvarez------------Messi-------Molina -------------------Enzo-----------RDP ---Lisandro----------Senesi--------Romero
Adidas has released some throwback gear. The jackets go for 110 USD. Maybe a Christmas gift to yourselves… There are jerseys as well and training pants.
Julian scores and so does RDP in the first half. For Julian's goal, it seems that Simeone's boy did the dirty work. I think some of you are correct in saying that he is exactly the type of player Scaloni likes. Como se lo deja todo Giuliano y otro gooooooollll de Julián Álvarez https://t.co/VDQKgI3KNd— rubén (@rubennatm) November 30, 2024
I guess the only question is what position he would play. For ATM, he's playing as a RM and RWB. For that position, we are well covered. I think maybe the LW would be the best as he did play there for Alaves on loan. He would be the best replacement for Nico Gonzalez in the LW position as they bring very similar qualities and frustrations
Julian and RDP also had an assist, so did A.Correa . Lets see if Atletico can maintain their current form.
As someone who doesn’t have a European team and just roots for the Argentine players to shine, I’m all in on Atletico right now. They’ve ironically (Cholo) been so fun to watch lately.
Having a squad that gets along well with each other usually helps. They seems to have great atmosphere within the team this season. I'm never a fan of Cholo's style but about half of his team are Argentines so I definetely wants them to do well.
ADM has 6 goals & 3 assists in last 4 games. Emi didnt have his best game, almost gifted a free goal for Chelsea. Enzo has always been more dangerous when he's involve in final third than when he's roaming too deep in midfield.
Almada just shared that he had an offer from the Middle East that would have set him for life, but he turned it down to go to Botafogo and seek glory instead. Mind you he’s not making pennies in Brazil either, but it’s good to see someone have some thirst for making history. Also good to see him not get swallowed by the MLS sinkhole. A move to an Arab team would have just been a sidestep. With that said, he also confirmed he’s not sure that he’ll continue in Brazil next year and that he wants to make the leap to Europe, noting that Lyon is a concrete possibility (confirming the original suspicions that the group that bought him was going to leave him in Botafogo for a season and then move them to one of their sister teams, Lyon always being the main suspect)
Might be an obvious thing to say, but Mac Allister is a world class midfielder, but at the same time he seems to be one of the most under rated players around as well. Perhaps because he comes off as quiet and shy, he's not an 'in yer face' type of player the way Garnacho is, so he seems to fly under the radar. Out of all our midfielders at the moment I would say he is the best and most vital one.
Its better to have top players who's not rated by most Europeans. They have no clue what our players are actually capable. We won WC with players like Julian, RDP, Enzo, Mac, Cuti, Acuna, Paredes, Molina, Montiel. Its what ESPN pundits labelled "some Argentina midfielders". Their definition of top class would be something like England, Belgium & Portugal squad.
Mac is rated by most Europeans, I just don't think he's the flashy type who attracts attention to himself that's all, Rodri is very similr, up until about 2 seasons ago. A lot of players are very concious of their social media presence and the need to draw attention to themselves and their brand, he just doesn't seem that type.
