lol that was like our commentator - "Messi awesome pass, Higuain and goal!!! ..." while Messi made a regular easy air ball and Aguero made an awesome pass from quite difficult position. But Aguero was not even mentioned :D

Higuain plays "olic" in this WC. Not doing much but he positions himself good and finishes nice

Messi is playing subpar for now.

Allow me to reiterate from the PBP thread.

None of the goals were offside.

You could actually hear the Argentine supporters here and there, over the vuvuzellas. That was refreshing.

Its simply unbelievable that Messi still has no goals after 2 matches like that.

I'm not the biggest Messi fan in the Argentina forums but shy of scoring in these two matches he's been awesome. He's playing in the hole for Argentina which he hadn't done much of and when he did he looked lost. He's opening space and always looking dangerous. The goals will come.

Hey, as long as they score four, I'm sure he'll take it.

I liked Diego's decision of bringing a fresh Kun Aguero late, after Tevez harassed the defenders for most of the match. It worked beautifully.

    Aguero MotM

Much better player on technical level than Tevez.

Was a good match Messi, Aguero, and Tevez all looked pretty solid on attack, but they seem fairly weak off the ball and defensively. If they don't clean it up, I supect they will make an early exit in the knockout stages.

Scoreline is somehwat misleading. This was more of a 2-1 win.

Tevez and Messi were amazing!! This was such a great game to watch. Props to Korea for just keeping on trying though, despite it being obvious they would lose pretty early on. Sad for Messi that he didn't get a goal, he really deserved it! Argentina v. Germany for the final, I think.

    Why?

But for the Korean goalie, they might have scored more goals. Granted, there was an own goal, but the Korean goal was also a fluke.

Messi's role suits him well. He can't get a goal but he creates plenty for his teammates. And Higuain, well something to be said at being in the right place, Inzaghi made a career of it.

if anything the Demichelis blunder gave Korea a lifeline

could have been more if that particular error did not happen

the Koreans had a sure goal, they botched it, then the own goal, and the offside goal.

Fair play to Maradona for putting on another striker on when they had a 2-1 lead. A lot of coaches would've replaced Tevez with a defensive player. As it were, the Aguero substitution won the game.

OFC a player like him will shine when he gets the game and the ball. But the problem imho was that Messi wasn't getting the ball. Ok, he was always very well covered. Good match but he was not Motm imo

i think the funniest thing is that everyone came into this world cup and said can messi do it without xavi and iniesta? well now messi has turned into a creator and his thriving, meanwhile xavi and iniesta have no one in the final 1/3 like Messi... hmmm

We played well, midfield was solid (thanks to no Veron!)
    Attack was very fluent.

Defense doesn't look good. Especially with the loss of Samuel.

overall a much better performance than against nigeria, although i don't think there was ever any doubt. korea was never going to be able to play defensively in this game -- and their marking on the two first goals was off. the 3rd and 4th goals were expected as the koreans tried to get the goal back.

i mean i guess the one area of concern for argentina were the defensive miscommunications -- because there were several. a better team like mexico, uruguay, or france could make them pay.

i wouldnt worry too much about messi. i never expected him to really score in this tournament anyways. it's not what he does for argentina. the important factor is that he grew as the game progressed. i actually felt that korea did a good job of handling him in the first half but messi is just too good.

argentina didnt really miss samuel in this game given the opponent. but we'll see how bad his injury is.

Considering the final scoreline of 4-1 in this game, Nigeria's pragmatic approach (0-1) may in the end pay off big.
