The last three chosen are a waste of space.

Someone needs to tell Sabella he is making a big mistake. He should be giving chances to the young fullbacks like Peruzzi, Sanchez Mino and Musacchio not to mention Lamela and Pastore.

Ridiculous timing for the friendly though. I'm not sure what can be learnt exactly from it considering players will be trying to avoid injuries and not being match sharp.

Some of the u20 selections are promising enough. Simeone junior and Icardi's work at Sampdoria is being recognized.

If he fulfill's his ability he'll be a top class striker. Does anyone have the complete list of players for the match today though. Cannot seem to find it anywhere.

Jesus wept, the under 21 side have just lost 6-1 to Germany, a shockingly bad performane, especially by the goalkeeper and defence. Only Iturbe was anything other than horrendous.

Our youth team just got destroyed. Technically, tactically, mentally inferior to the Germans.

We're going through a major crisis, but nobody seems to care about it. I know that these things are cyclical. But the way things are going now, it's only going to get worse before it's gets better.

I believe it was the U20, we do not really have a U21, that is more of a Euro thing. U17,U20,U23. I didn't watch the game, can I get some details, please? Who was playing in defense? MF and attack? Thanks.

This friendly was ridiculous.Germanys under 21 side on a run of 8 straight wins against what in reality was an Argentina under 19 side. All players being eligible for the Sudamericana next year. Also of course any first choice player with their clubs such as Lanzini,Ocampos,Centurion,Benitez Melano etc werent considered.

This is true. But you'd expect the players on the field to be able to controll the ball and pass it at the very least. I'm still fairly young but I've never seen such a technically poor Argentina side.

But at youth level physique difference on this level makes it ridiculous.A better test will be the tournament in Valencia. But dont expect too many of these to make the. Sudamericana squad.

Sorry that I can't give you too much info, i was watching the game while my 2 year old son and 4 year old daughter were jumping around!! Bit hard to concentrate, i know Veloso was playing at right back, but there were a lot of substitutions. The goalie was awful, the defence just as bad and the midfield non-existent. Only Iturbe looked decent, funnily enough I had forgotten all about him.

Yes the side is mainly under nineteens (Damian Martinez for instance one of the best young keepers in the world was not chosen) but the technical staff deserve criticism.

Putting out players like this can affect them mentally in the long run.

I've said it for a long time Argentina shouldn't rest on it's laurels. Other teams are striving to catch up and if we are not careful we will be overtaken.

Many coaches and older wiser men have lamented the way football is being coached in Argentina, the lack of an identity on the pitch. Notwithstanding the inferior physical and mental preperation of all sides from age group to the full seniors.

This result is symptomatic of the lackadaisical approach of the AFA. You may say it's an over reaction but it is indicative of the attitudes of the organization. Many of these players have real talent despite what the scoreline says.

But we need proper technical staff of the highest calibre working with the youngsters. For several years now since the departure of Tocalli and Pekerman these sides have lacked that identity that footballing DNA which is Argentine. If some of the corpulent wasters at the AFA could wake up it would make a refreshing change.

Having said that many of these players like Frangapane played in the u20 tournament in South Africa against very physical sides like Ghana and Nigeria and up and coming Japan and they suceeded. So it isn't all doom and gloom.

I can tell you for certain the Germans would have prepared their team extremely fastidiously just as if they were playing for the seniors. It makes that transition easier for their youngsters and they play in the same fashion. They've used the whole exercise and come out of it smelling of roses with renewed confidence and another sign their revamping of their youth football is moving in the right direction.

We on the other hand have come out smelling of something unpleasant and an indication that all is not well in youth football in Argentina which in many cases is still haphazard and without a defined focus.

Have to agree with you, the passing was abysmal, and I'm not talking about defence splittng, Xavi type passes, but just simple 2/3 yards passes that were going astray. Just simple, basic stuff which they seemed incapable off.

If the current generation national team does not win anything at senior level, then I dont think we cant expect much from the the current U-21 generation.

Cambiasso, Saviola, Riquelme and Aimar era played great football both at junior and senior level but does not win anything at senior level. The current generation also played very well at U-21 and U-23 level(Messi, Aguero, Di Maria, Higuain, Tevez, Mascherano,Zabaleta etc) but when it comes to international tournament, when playing the likes of Brazil and Germany, they just couldnt get their football going.

Its kinda hard to take friendly seriously these days, since Argentina often get good result in this kind of fixture. Since world cup 2006 they have victory over France (twice) , Spain, Brazil (twice), Germany and Portugal, yet it doesnt reflect their form in competitive play.

As we all know winning friendly games is one matter, winning competitive ones in a tournament setting is something althogether different. I mean people were talking about how Spain had lost friendly games to Argentina, Portugal, Italy and England, but they won the ones that really mattered. I would be happy for Argentina to do the same, relax in the friendly matches, win the important ones.:D

Look at these quotes on the German forum:

You guys complain about Rojo a lot but I've never seen him play that bad. He's looked okay and now he's moved to Portugal which is often a step to playing for an elite club. Clemente was shocking in his last 2 matches.

Argentina MF is so weak. Sosa, enough said. Gago, good in spots but ultimately a reject from Madrid and Roma. Masch, hasn't played regularly in the midfield in 2 years. None of these would make an elite's team starting midfield.

Of course the GK is a big problem too though nobody seems to complain. He makes a goal-costing mistake in about 50% of matches.

Rojo is also only 22 years old. Only other options I see are Insua who is serviceable as an FB but pretty poor defensively and Monzon who is decent. Ansaldi who people on here rave about but I've only seen a couple matches with him and he's languishing in Russia at 25 years old.

    So I'm fine with Rojo.

Tagliafico, Mino and Ansaldi are far better than Rojo who is really a centreback. Ansaldi is one of the best player in the RPL but he cnanot seem to get free of Kazan.

Muller diving about. Rojo that said lovely cross into Higuain who blasts it miles over when it's easier to score.

Higuain injured in a collision it seems. Concussed ? Back on swathed in a head bandage.
