Holy crap Peru is winning 2-0 vs Chile. If Peru goes to the final, I hope they win it.

They already lost to Brazil 0-5 , this is Brazil Copa to lose at this point, no doubt about it. I was proven right once again that this Copa has no outstanding team, its a balance. If the knockout stage has 2 legs like CL, all these teams most likely will win at least 1 leg . How can people even say Brazil is the best team if they already had 2 scoreless games and needed a shootout against team like Paraguay...

Peru was led by an Argentine manager, can you imagaine if yet another Argentine manager winning Copa with another nation like Sampaoli did some years ago? Argentine manager has a very good record in Copa... even Tata made it to the final with Paraguay while Basile reached 3 Copa finals with Argentina (winning 2 of them). Stabile once led Albiceleste to win 6 Copa back then.

Peru can still comeback though, if they scored twice, the shootout would be an adventage for them.

Hard to blow out a team twice in the same tournament though..

Greece did that in 2004, beat the host Portugal twice, even France in semi.

2-1 and 1-0. I'm talking a blow out. 5-0 shouldn't repeat. Teams usually have too much pride to let that happen twice. Brazil might suffer more this time around.

Perhaps, but my guess is outside the box they are traditionally called. Inside the box for a penalty, I can't think of a single instance at international level (WC, Euro, or CA).

Whatever makes you and your "buddies" repping this sleep better at night....hey look, it's high school high again!!

This forum, which had the best discussions in all of BigSoccer back in the day, has become the usual social media cesspit. No one is ever disappointed, let down, or saddened anymore, it's all "outrage" accompanied with the inevitable tantrums and self-righteous grievance.

The referee was poor, but even with a great referee Dani Alves still owns the Argentine defense for that first goal and we are looking at an uphill battle, down in the score at their own turf inside of 20 minutes. Argentina couldn't even manage the match for that long, then it was the usual routine of approximations and wrong decisions that never yield a positive result. I've seen this act far too many times for the past twelve years, beginning with the CA07 final. It's amazing how it continues to fool people thinking it would have ever been any other way.

The last time us Argentine fans had legit reason to feel we deserved more was at the final of CA04, not because the referee favored the opponent, also Brazil in that game, but because that time we indeed completely outclassed them on the field yet an incredibly fortuitous play literally in the last second of the match took our win and trophy when we were already kissing it. Our performance in this match in no way resembles that one, and if you want to know how to earn a penalty call in your favor at international level, go ask Lucho Gonzalez how it's actually done.

Lmao c'mon I'm pretty sure I've liked some of your posts. I've even liked some of RiverGaucho's of all people. I'm not trying to foster a clique here. I just agree with a post sometimes, particularly if I just don't have anything to add.

Lol being the 'I told you so' fan must be the most pathetic position in the world. You literally never lose because in case of a win you get to celebrate and when the team lose well here comes the narrative regardless of how well the team played.

Reminder: none of us have any control over the game. Whatever feedback we give is always going to be mindless chit chat between fans. You are seriously going to shit on other peoples reaction to the game because they don't match your oh so level headed one Pfft nah man I watched every NT game since 1994 and this was as good as any. I am sticking to that calm your superiority complex down a notch.

Its funny how Ricardo Gareca was waiting for the AFA to give him the job back in October and they decided to go with a rookie instead. Awesome management. With this footballing body, getting to the semis should be considered a trophy.

The third place game is becoming more exciting though... surely we will not let Chile to better us for the third time within 3 Copa. Our players also has a chance more goals to their name in Copa.

While its looking unlikely, Gareca would my new hero if his team beat Brazil :D

Seriously, they started with 0-5 lost, needed a penalties in QF and then ended up thrashing Chile ...

So Scaloni stays until December, then a new coach comes in and only has about six months to put a team together for the CA. What a complete joke the AFA has become.

Does Scolani stay if he's getting good results in upcoming games or he's guarenteed to be replaced after December?

If he's out, we can thank AFA for screwing up our chance to win the next year tournament. Imagine what Scolani could do leading to next year tournament if he stays... especially with WC qualifier matches to play , not just friendlies. Its not easy to improve the team in middle of tournament and Scolani managed to do that in middle of the mess, even Sampa failed to do that. I love it when Scolani didnt shows any fear against Brazil even though every call was against his team. Same goes with De Paul, Parades, Lautaro and Foyth, I love seeing those fire in their eyes, its something we've not seen in more than a decade from our players.

If AFA does replace him, then they clearly have been shortsighted. Listening to fans is one thing but having a clear long term plan of your own is another thing.

If they replace him they should do it ASAP not in December and it HAS to be a serious upgrade like Gallardo and not just another Scaloni type or ancient retread. Otherwise you're just setting the team back for no real upside. I'm not super convinced by Scaloni but can't just do things to do them, you need a plan.

Dybala will be brought in, apparently, alongside Aguero, and in front of Messi for the 3rd place game.

    Lautaro is suspended.

I have a feeling that Gallardo will be the NT coach in Jan. 2020. I would have preferred it if it happened now as we have a good set of friendlies to ease him in and get to know the players without any pressure.

If it's him it may be worth it even for bad timing I suppose.

Weird, I thought your cards were whipped clean. Well, let’s see how Messi and Dybala do together.

The AFA did the same thing with Sampa. After the 16 CAC Sampaoli wanted the job. He waited and nothing came then he signed with Sevilla. But I believe this has more to do with Tata resigning around July 5, had Tata just quit right after the final, Sampaoli would’ve taken the position. Who knows what could’ve happened had Sampaoli took the job right after that tournament. We got stuck with a clown like Bauza then Sampaoli came wayyyy late in the race.

Personally, if we do get a new manager I wouldn’t mind the likes of Scaloni and Samuel, and Aimar stuck around as assistants. I believe the players like and respect these guys.

Scaloni left a blueprint on what players should be called and what players need to go. As I said, he should be given by giving a youngster like Foyth a chance and dropping Mercado. No more aging players, please. I think we are onto something good. So, whoever does come come he needs to add to this.
