Arena On Kirovski’s U.S. Place - More Bashing Please

    http://www.soccer365.com/US_NEWS/National_Teams/page_91_49028.shtml

    more Kirovski bashing please.

...Kirovski not good enough for USA team.

Please cut this guy. He has made enough money, hoodwinking and bamboozling several coaches with future promise.(lol)

    "Solid, opportunistic goal,”
...translation- the ball landed at his feet eight yards in front of an open goal. With no defenders Kirovski closed his eyes(perhaps in fear) and blasted straight at the keeper. Thank god it bounced off the keeper's head into the goal. Retire on the good fortune of a lucky goal.

“He just needs to get into a club environment where he is playing more consistently."
...Translation- His club doesn't play him either and he can't make it in our team...perhaps if he gets more experience before he retires. "He is only 27."

Bruce is not silly, he is not waiting for this guy to finally emerge as a different player at say....30yrs old. I don't think so.

I am laughing at this idea that Kirovski should play withdrawn and not do the truly gifted work of a striker and shouldn't do the work of a midfielder. But should just hang out between these great players and ride their coat tails basking in the credit. Bullshot!
Just accept your fate. Of the 11 positions on the field you dominate none.

Not personal just business. Beat it!!

No worries. Once Mathis is back up to playing stength, you won't see Jovan again in red white and blue.

The team has grown younger, faster and smarter and Kirovski just doesn't fit anymore

Somebody help me. Am I misreading Arena's quotes on Kirovski or was he actually satisfied with how he played. Because if Arena is happy with Kirovski, then I'm really scared. Somebody tell me I'm missing what Arena is saying - or help me out on reading between the lines.

trust Bruce Arena, he will make him a dangerous striker along the way.

Bruce was very diplomatic, and you have to read between the lines. He said Kirovsky could have , maybe, possibly a future with the Nat. if he were to play week in week out with a club, may get another look, if not he could forget it.

I thought Bruce just restated what had repeated been stated on this board - Kirovski plays best behind the forwards. What's there to bash, be it Bruce or Jovan?

The only problem is that Kirovski been in the same boat for years now. I think Arena has made more progress with "ball-hog" Cunningham in less than two years than with Kirovski in five.

This has always been the issue with Kirovski. He has seemed to prefer the big payday over playing time. How many years has he lost to this philosophy?

Wait people. It's not like any of our forwards had a great day yesterday (McBride was not very good). So I'm just saying, lay off Kirovski. He did score one of the greatest goals ever by an American against Kahn.

i agree, the bashing is a little ridiculous... yes, his play on saturday vs venezuela and on wednesday vs the chicago fire was largely ineffective; a couple nice plays mixed in with a lot of horrible touches. but how many of us have seen him play lately compared to his coaches? how many other americans in the player pool have scored in the EPL or played with the US MNT as a teenager? not many...

i think it's great that arena is still keeping his options open... i don't think kirovski will make the roster in 2006, but i trust arena's eye for talent.

The bottom line is Kirovski just isn't very good. He's slow, has poor touch and is a poor passer. He hasn't done anything good since that one shot against Germany four years ago. And he hasn't played well consistently since the youth teams at Manutd.

    1) Who cares if he's scored in the EPL. So a few teams took a chance on him and found out he's at best a bench warmer in Europe. McBride, JMM, and Reyna have scored in EPL. Mathis, Donovan, Wolff probably could be consistant contributors given the chance.

    2) Well, the 1990 WC roster was almost all teenagers (or close to it). So that doesnt mean crap. Teenagers lately that have played consistantly are Donovan, Beasley and Convey. All of them are light years beyond Jovan.

Kirovski's time is up. I cringed when I saw him score, because I knew it gave fuel to a fire that we were all watching extinguish before our eyes. It was funny that he blasted it off the keepers head from 8 yards whereas LD gets the ball, dribbles 50 yards and cooly passes the ball into the net. The difference in those two plays goes to show the kind of quality we used to have versus what we have to look forward to.

I like the fact that we are now at a point where we have enough depth in our national pool that players like Kirovski, who are very talented but lack something, can be pushed aside for better players. 10 years ago, we would have been stuck with Kirovski regardless of how he preformed.

Kirovski did what he's supposed to do in his position: he scored a goal. No matter how it happened he did his job. He outscored McBride on the day...

yeah, back back back back and it's gone.

that's exactly why he has been on the Nats for 10 years.

right now i'd take Donovan or Beasley over Kirovski.

I got a feeling that we're gonna see more of Kiro.

I think he'll get some PT in quals and may make it onto the WC team as a reserve. Defo not a starter.

When Kiro and Razov were the starting tandem against T&T at the 2001 home qually, they were pretty much the 6th and 7th option at forward, after (in no particular order) McBride, Moore, Mathis, Donovan, and Wolff - who were all injured and unavailable that night.

I don't imagine Kiro's moved a whole heck of a lot up that depth chart in the intervening months, do you?

Obviously, he's ahead of Albright, though...:)

"Jovan is only 27 years old, and I think he still has a future with the national team,” he concluded. “He just needs to get into a club environment where he is playing more consistently."

HOW LONG ARE WE GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE THIS EXCUSE!!!!!!!!!!! AAARRRGGGGG!!!!!!

Maybe, JUST F-ING MAYBE, it's JOVAN, and NOT all the clubs he bounces between. There's no underlying reason that Jovan just cannot find his place? Absolutely, he just isnt good enough to start for any to league team. AND he has been unwilling to attempt playing for a lower division team, or better yet, come home to MLS.

Fine, no biggie, he likes the good pay, who the heck wouldn't? But he shouldn't be getting rewarded for this with chance, after chance, after f-ing CHANCE to prove he belongs with the national team.

    OFF with his head.
