gotta tell ya, will the money that chelsea is willing to throw around at brand-name players, i've got a bad feeling about the coming seasons. we could (unfortunately) be at the beginning of a new premiership dynasty. we've got a fantastic manager (possibly the best in the world) and some serious quality in the dressing room, but i don't know if it will be enough to save us from roman's billions. i hope he gets bored, sells chelsea, and returns the prem to some sort of normalcy. any thoughts???
Re: are we destined to become chelsea's bitch? ive got a thought.... 'are we destined to become chelseas bitch?' dont chat sh!t lol
Re: are we destined to become chelsea's bitch? There's a lot I could say, but, put simply, it's going to be a long time before anyone, especially Chelsea, can call us their bitches. They've done nothing against us outside of that heart wrenching CL loss at Highbury. Sure, they won the Premiership last year, but only for the first time in 50 years. If I remember right, you said you've come to the Arse only recently, so you can be forgiven, Chelsea's made a few signings this summer (SWP being the big one), but there's still a long, long way to go before such a question needs to be discussed.
Re: are we destined to become chelsea's bitch? fair enough. just throwing a thought out there. you gotta admit, that chelsea is a concern. by the way, it looks like you've been around this board for a while... is 'b*tch' a no-no word on this thing?

Re: are we destined to become chelsea's bitch? well fellas, gotta say that i've officially been a member of this board for about 3 hours now and i've received one heck of a nice reception. good to know that that there's some real nice folk willing to talk about the arse. pretty disappointing. oh, and on the montana thing, yes we do actually have running water now and the internet and all sorts of neat stuff. gotta go, my horse is double-parked.
Re: are we destined to become chelsea's bitch? my bad, I thought you only recently became an Arsenal supporter...Chelsea is obviously a concern with their signings this summer, but it takes much more than one season to turn back Chelsea's historic ineptness. Plus, over the past few years (including last season) our record against Chelsea is decidedly one sided, favoring us. Chelsea makes big name signings, but what good are they going to do? Sure they got SWP, but where's he going to play? It gives them depth which helps in the league, but it isn't enough to give them the advantage over us head-to-head.
Re: are we destined to become chelsea's bitch? i hear what you're saying. however, i do believe that the depth that chelsea has at nearly every position will be the deciding factor in the prem for years to come. they can afford (literally) to have a bench worth millions of pounds waiting in the wings for a starter to go down.injuries are bound to happen and 38 games is a long season. say, for example, that our midfield crisis should endure through the january transfer window. i doubt it will knowing wenger's genius in the transfer market, but humor me. gilberto goes down (again). who do we plug the hole with? flamini? meanwhile, say joe cole goes down at chelsea. who do they plug the hole with? swp. big difference there.
Re: are we destined to become chelsea's bitch? i don't think theres any need for fear. i think all the pressure is on chelsea, if anything. they spent all that money amassing all that talent. sure its nice if cole goes down but what if he doesn't. then what's swp gonna do? sit around and only play in FA cup games? can mourinho handle having so many stars? is the team gonna implode? are they gonna turn into the jailblazers? money don't buy everything... oh and what happens when makalele goes down? who replaces him?
Re: are we destined to become chelsea's bitch? Welcome aboard. You certainly have a right to any opinion and new fans of Arsenal are welcome here. My only advice is that it's usually a good idea for new folks to read for a few days.....to get an idea about the various personalities before jumping in.....especially with a thread titled the way you titled it. An analogy....say you're joining a new football club to play for....the team has been together for several years and all know each other very well...but your first day in training you walk up without introducing yourself first and just start saying....."hey guys do you think that other team we play next week is going to kick our arse?" You probably wouldn't be well received, would you? Anyway, that's my advice.....take it or don't. I offer it as a fellow Arsenal supporter and not as someone out to bash you. Btw, Montana is gorgeous.....especially Glacier.
Re: are we destined to become chelsea's bitch? point taken. i didn't realize that i would ruffle so many feathers. i was just trying to get a discussion going and i figured that title would attract a bit of attention. my apologies to those of you who have been here longer than me. i meant no disrespect. but... i still have that sinking feeling in my stomach that we're in for a rough season. i realize that prem titles are won on the pitch, but chelsea have amassed a fairly frightening roster. that was my point. we can't compete with roman's billions and chelsea will continue to snap up whomever they please simply because they have the money and other clubs can't say no to healthy cash injection. and, yes, glacier is beautiful. was there last weekend camping.
Re: are we destined to become chelsea's bitch? There is no doubt that Chelsea will be tough this year. Their depth right now is amazing.....you could possibly even argue unprecedented. But that being said....I agree with some of the other posters that have said that it will be interesting to see how they handle the pressure of not only being the title holders but also being the team everyone EXPECTS to win. I suppose we will find out soon enough.
Re: are we destined to become chelsea's bitch? Des- A few things: 1. Yoss is right, the thread title is bound to get ppl riled up. 2. Millions do not always translate to titles; witness Madrid the last few seasons, or even the big Italian clubs (*cough* Milan *cough*) who have failed to capture a "dynasty" in spite of their wealth. Chelsea can certainly snatch up all the brand names, but players have been splurged on before only to fail miserably. Add to this the reality that these players will likely be forced into rotation schemes that will not suit them, and you could end up with a lackluster season. Playing week in, week out solidifies a team. If Jose needs to swap ppl around (or doesn't play his big names), they'll bolt. You think Joe Cole is going to play benchwarmer at Chelsea his whole career if SWP does well? Forget it. Players will both shun Chelsea AND leave for more regular places elsewhere. 3. Everyone seems to forget that, despite a star-studded defense and midfield, Chelsea look very thin up top. I think Drogba (worth his millions? not based on last season) and Gudjohnsen are second tier strikers at best. Crespo is not going to solve this problem. If Chelsea got Adriano, I might think differently, but I think they look wobbly in the striker department.
Re: are we destined to become chelsea's bitch? all three of your points are great ones and i'm glad to hear them. i just need a little reassurance as we get ready to kick off a new season. i can be a bit of a pessimist and if the stars are in alignment at chelsea this season - watch out! i fully believe that with the amount of talent that chelsea has accumulated, they could duplicate the incredible season of our 'invincibles'. let's hope that egos keep the juggernaut that is chelsea from reaching its potential. that being said, arsenal couldn't be in better hands than wenger's. we can't count on chelsea falling apart, we've got to focus on winning week in and week out. the points will sort things out in the end. it is definately going to be an interesting season and i'm looking foward to it.
