are there enough real centrists/moderates to form a third party?

    With all the talk about "moderates" trying to distance themselves from their party's extremes are there actually enough of them to create a third party in the center?

    But if I remember correctly Perrot created the reform party without converting moderate republicans and democrats at the time. I'm thinking more along the lines of moderate republicans and democrats abandoning their parties to create a third party.

    The regular bodies of voters are probably there but the money is not.

    Sorry. I should've been clearer. What I really mean is what if moderate politicians in congress and state govts. abandoned their parties and created a third party?

    Yeah, they're gonna commit political suicide by cutting themselves off from their funding sources.

    That'll happen.
