Watching the news lately they seem obsessed with the anti war left wing Hollywood crowd. My question is are there any stars labeled as conservative? Yes I know Arnold, and Bruce Willis are, but are there any others? They sure do keep a low profile.
Charlton Heston. Former (IIRC) head of the NRA. I'd saying leading that organization indicates a fairly high profile. Edited to add that Ah-nuld is actually being considered for governor in 2006. Headline writers across the country are stocking up on their antacid even as we speak.
ARLINGTON, February 3, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Jane Russell, the 1940s and '50s Hollywood movie star and pin-up girl, now aged 81, told the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Arlington, Va. this weekend that she is a self-confessed "mean-spirited, narrow-minded, right-wing Christian bigot." http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewCulture.asp?Page=\Culture\archive\200302\CUL20030203c.html
Outspoken anti-war activist Susan Sarandon hit severe ratings turbulence on CBS Sunday night with her original telefilm ICE BOUND -- landing last in overnight ratings and losing nearly 40% of audience levels from the previous Sunday on CBS.
In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, comedian Dennis Miller said he was a “Bush fan” and talked about his support for military action in Iraq. “If you’re in a peace march and the guy next to you has a sign that says ‘Bush is Hitler,’ forget the peace thing for a second and beat his [expletive],” Miller said. As for why pro-Bush celebs generally keep a low profile, Miller told Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly that in Hollywood being a conservative can cost a performer his livelihood. “I think there are more conservatives in Hollywood than you would think, but I don’t think they’re going to come out because you never know why you don’t get your next job,” he said. Miller is not alone in praising Bush: Dennis Hopper, Rob Lowe, Fred Thompson, Howard Stern, rocker Ted Nugent and even hard-partying Kid Rock have all come out in support of military action against Iraq.
Re: Re: Are there any conservatives in Hollywood? man if tim robbins wasn't such a douchebag i'd say we had it pretty bad.
I'm surprised no one's mentioned Tom Selleck, Ronald Reagan, Clint Eastwood, Al Campanis, John Rocker and the late Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder (the last three not movie stars, but athletes/sports personalities- still entertainment). Most of these guys are either past their prime or dead, so their low profiles are understandable.
Dude, Arnold is running for governor of Cali-fornia in 2006. It will be a new chapter for the super smash box office multi billion dollar movie millionaire.
Ask and you shall receive. Here's a list of the Hollywood Good Guys. As you will see, it's a rather lengthy list, too long to post here.
Re: Re: Are there any conservatives in Hollywood? I don't think any of those guys would like to be related in any way to John Rocker.
Surprise, surprise. Kathy Ireland - (Nice to know that the commies don't get all the hot babes.) Marilyn Manson - (I wonder how he/she gets along with Jerry Falwell.)
Re: Re: Are there any conservatives in Hollywood? Brittney Spears, huh? I wonder if she can point out Iraq on a map... on her 'see why' link I didn't find anything about her politics, but I did find three seperate articles about her hair color.
My other role model, Ted Nugent, may have a bit of a liberal streak in him. You can't put a cap in Bambi's dome if your favorite place to hunt has been turned into a Walmart parking lot. Hunters (at least around here) are very active in the preservation of open spaces, habitat restoration and they often work against industrial and residential developments that a stereotypical conservative would be in favor of. I suspect that Gladys Knight may be voting Republican these days. And at least around here, Julie (the girl from BYU) from The Real World is a celebrity. Thanks to their Pepso Twist commercials, Donnie & Marie Osmond may now qualify as "celebrities".
Re: Re: Re: Are there any conservatives in Hollywood? You find them liberal or centrist? PM me about a deal on some prime developing land in the Everglades.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Are there any conservatives in Hollywood? So racist equals conservative? Great, we'll stick Harry Belafonte on the list. Welcome aboard, Harry. And John Rocker is in Hollywood? Does he know that?
Dennis Rodman lives in Newport Beach. I think it's illegal for Democrats to live in Newport Beach so Rodman must be a Republican.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Are there any conservatives in Hollywood? And Louis Farrakhan, and Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton...
The prevailing question that this thread leaves me with is this - when will Democrats be able to narrow the wrestler gap?
Re: Re: Are there any conservatives in Hollywood? Miller (and by extension, you) is way off base here. Every conservative Hollywood star is doing quite fine, thank you very much. You see, liberals tolerate other opinions, and this is proven by the fact that all of the conservative celebrities mentioned on this thread get plenty of work, with their opinions and political affiliations being well known. Indeed, some are amonst the richest in Hollywood (Schwartzenegger, for example). Miller himself is not lacking in work. Of course, the premise is also assuming that everyone in power in Hollywood is a liberal (not the case, though it is probably pretty common). Contrast that with the fact that Dixie Chicks music was banned from the play lists of all radio stations owned by Clear Channel after Natalie Maines' well publicized comments. The proof is in the pudding - it's the conservatives in power that ban, bully, fire, black-list, or otherwise strong-arm any liberals for expressing their opinions.
